Last time I saw a scrap at a football match was at Middlesborough when we beat them 3-2.

I remember a game at Oakwell sometime during the mid to late 1980s. A group of Boro ‘fans’ went into the Ponty end and started mouthing off. They received a right pasting. It spilled over on to the pitch during the game and 1 of them was beaten right in front of the Boro keeper.

Remember it well. We were stood at the side of the big gap at back when they came in and stood nearish us.

They were drinking and having a sing song, which was ok until the end filled up and they had to make a swift exit.

I’m pretty sure a police dog had hold of one as they ran onto the pitch.

I think there were pictures of it in the Chronicle the following week, if I remember rightly.

The bit about the forum is spot on. The amount of duplicate and unnecessary posts is so annoying.

I like how other forums have a pre-match thread, an in-play thread, then a post match thread. I also like how some have one single post where they comment on other games that day.

Thought it said ‘all over the place’ which could also be about various topics.

I couldn't disagree more. Why should our forum be the same as others? What's wrong with being different? For me, I see this being a strength of the BBS, not a weakness.

I hate duplicate threads but I love the variety on here, if it was just football I wouldn't have joined.

Was there with my dad and younger brother.

My first ever experience of football hooliganism.

Seem like a sound bunch. I am also grateful to that post for leading me back to Patrick’s farewell letter. Very poignant. COYR.

can we replace the word 'hooligans' with 'knobheads'? real problem I've always had with the term 'football hooligan' is that it's used by some as some kind of badge of honour. less easy to pull that off with 'knobhead'

I get what you're saying but to me it feels more natural for anyone to put what they want without feeling constrained by a thread. I would imagine the matchday threads will disappear when we're back in the ground for eg

didn't really see much in there about us, unless I'm missing a much longer thread. passing comment about us being a decent club (correct), bit about us being loaded (incorrect)

Boro will love our west stand because it reminds them of what the whole of Ayresome Park was like.

So, is this a thread about a thread on another forum, which references a thread on this forum, and also references this very thread?

Hello Boro fans. Will check on the thread on the other forum for a hello back.

My only memory of a Middlesbrough fan is me walking towards Oakwell, being approached by him, and him asking me: "Are youse gonna win, or are we gonna win?" It felt like the most pointless question ever.
