In all seriousness and with apologies for being facetious earlier breakdancing, synchronised swimming, cheerleading may well need strong skill sets beyond the reach of most of us but that doesn't make em sport. At best their claim to be a sport requires a huge element of subjective judgement. They are, in fact, performance art. Not my cup of tea even as performance art but that's just my view. Sport...never.

Are the Olympics all about sport though? Medals have been awarded for art and architecture at the modern Olympics

    Have they?

Why not have a separate Olympics for performance art, music, painting etc though I don't really see where citius, altius or fortius would fit in.

Tbh I don’t watch half the sports that take place in the olympics just the ones I’m interested in .
I used to look at some and think why are they on olympics , synchronised swimming etc .
Now I have a different view and that is anything can be an Olympic sport if it had a good following
If it gets a good following which I’m sure it will I can’t see problem especially with benefits I’ve posted earlier.
I f it can be accommodated and others, cheerleading etc why not . There’ll be plenty other things to watch for those that don’t want to.
If it’s doing greater good ring it on .
Most of the major sports are bringing the olympics into disrepute with controversy maybe these activities will bring something back .
Whatever happens will be trial led so if it doesn’t work it’ll be eventually dropped anyway.

Tug of War an Olympic sport 1900-1920.
    Polo up to 1936
    Croquet 1900-1904
Plunging 1904 (discontinued because it was an 'absolute waste of time!')
    Deer shooting

As we have the triple jump as an Olympic Sport the anything is possible .

If synchronized swimming, ice skating and freestyle gymnastics are all set to music, I can't see why break dancing shouldn't be considered.

To do that stuff you have to be extremely athletic and fit, and it's something that probably offers more variety than, say, diving.

Let the Olympics get down with the kids man!

If they're looking for new Olympic sports, plate-spinning gets my vote.

Some kid will try spinning on his head in the street, cut his head on a stone and it’ll get a nation wide ban for being too dangerous

It's similar to skateboarding, rhythmic gymnastics and arial skiing, all Olympic sports.

Baseball back in to the Olympics... when only really the USA play. But no squash? Although I don’t know where I could play squash in town anymore. Didn’t Bpl change all the courts to gyms?
