First well done to the Ladies team. A close but important win over the Aussies. A brilliant win for the Men's team. The Sun was out, the stands were full and England take an important lead against the proteas. Brilliant day sat inside watching wall to wall sport for hours and hours. Just how I like it.
Brunt was fantastic for the Women. The other game was a lottery. Disgrace that a Lords wicket was turning sideways. More like an Indian wicket.
It was hardly a "disgrace". The pitch was as good for test cricket as I've seen recently. Better than a 5 day corporate pitch designed to satisfy the CEO whose selling tickets. Great 4 entertainment and a great cricket match.
Quality test wicket produced a fine test match. I'd much rather have 4 entertaining days than 5 dull ones. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Excellent victories by both sides, and a good start for Root as captain. Haven't seen anything of either game today though. 5 hours out cycling up to Holme Moss and back in the glorious weather, followed by hospital visiting.
Second that MET. Brilliant first innings for Joe. Let's not forget Bairstow either. Took four catches and contributed 51 runs in a tidy little knock before being stumped. Great win for the girls team as well. Well done to all concerned.
Women did well to defend 259 on a flat pitch Brunt kept her nerve when batting bowling and fielding. Men did well on a sun baked pitch but South Africa are struggling to produce Test players the country has gone backwards since the death of Mandella. Their top players De Villiers Du Plessis Steyn and Tahir are all missing. England are missing Woakes but we have quality all rounders in Stokes Moeen Ali and Bairstow. Anderson and Broad will probably struggle in Australia and our top order batting will be tested on fast Australian weckets. We need Wood and Woakes to be fit . Good start for Root today but inconsistency cost Cook his job and lets see if England can build on this success. Interesting to see quality of future pitches if it stays hot and dry reverse swing will play its part.
Natalie Sciver hit 129 as England finished on 284 for 9 against News Zealand. The Kiwis could only muster 209 all out so England qualify for the Women's Cricket World Cup Semi finals with a healthy 75 run victory. Well done Natalie and well played England.!
After losing the opening game the women's team look a very good bet for the World Cup now. Got some serious depth in batting
Going well in the Final against India. England Women finished on 228 for 7. In reply India are 42-2, meaning they have to get 184 from 36 overs.
