Ah cheers. If I remember correctly in the summer of 15/16 - fletcher, Isgrove, Hammill, white, Roberts, Mawson, Watkins, Brownhill and Toney all came in that year. (Along with Long and Pearson during the first 6 months). Hecky gets a lot of slack (rightly) for the fact “his” team was ripped up and this year he had to rebuild. Johnson had the same in the promotion year. He had 4 or 5 first team regulars left from the year before and had to build the team that eventually got promoted. Just like us this year took a bit of time, but he eventually got them to gel. Each to their own like. Sure I’m wrong mind. You and Tyrone have made some excellent points for why Lee Johnson is a fraud/con man.
I was too young to go to away games back then, but yes, why not? Is there a quote, "you've got to understand where you've come from to know where you're going" or did I just make that up?
Danny Lloyd? 6 in 16 for Peterborough and if the chairman is to be believed championship clubs have made bids for him. Not sure what relevance that is old boy, sure it has some.
Thanks oc. Dint really deserve a thread of its own but I just wanted to see how that suggestion had worked out.
Not sure, don’t watch Peterborough much. They tend to do alright with non league, so good luck to the lad. If you want any tips on Orange County let me know.
It was some of the worst football ive ever seen Shocking on top of thst he was ripping the heart out if the club. If hed remained then Im not even sure wed have had a club
There's a difference being good with words and trying to create the illusion of being good with words. I also thought he was a bully with some players and apportioned blame rather than trying to protect players like Hill did (though blaming fans proved his downfall). My own view is he can create a lot of resentment in a playing squad and why he's had huge losing streaks at all the clubs he's been at. Fair play he's tended to turn it round at Bristol City, but it doesn't cover the fact he should have been sacked from his last 2 jobs and has been lucky beyond words.
Saying that little Lee would probably have got us promoted is more a big "if" than a probably when you think of the run we went on. We accrued more points in the second part of the season than Wigan, who were champions. Didn't we take 53 points and still only just get into the playoffs? That was some sun Hecky took us on. It had to be to get us there.
