I'll wager you £25 with the winnings going to a charity of your choice that the home end attendances next season will not be 90% of what they've been this season. Some people are massively underestimating just how alienated our fan base is. The number of Barnsley fans at the game on Tuesday was startling. I haven't seen so few Barnsley fans at a home league game since the season the Ponty End was closed which was over 25 years ago.
They have brought nothing but calamity to Barnsley FC. They are taking us backwards as a football club. We went up last year, mainly off the back of targets identified and brought in before their tenure, much like OGC Nice but on a smaller scale. They haven’t learned from the last championship relegation. They are ignorant, arrogant and do not seem to give two fecks about the town or its supporters. As far as profits on the pitch, these are drying up as we have less and less footballing assets left at the club worth anything after their almighty summer transfer ****-up. The sooner they go the better for me.
I don't think anyone cares what the dictionary definition is. Assets are liquidised at Barnsley quicker than a punnet of strawberries in a Kenwood blender. It doesn't really matter why either. It's ******* depressing and the aftermath isn't fun to watch.
With such big figures swirling around and such large amounts of money changing hands, there are so many ways in which to make money.
No. In a nutshell no one has any idea one way or the other as there no published accounts to which anyone can refer.
the fact they've mismanaged the recruitment and retention this season isn't speculation it's a stone cold fact look at the league table. Theyve either wasted millions or lied about how much they've actually spent doesn't matter which it is really the result will be the same relegation to L1 with a much inferior squad than we had last time
Yea spot on....this could have been done so different too. Its not like this is all hindsight either, we as fans (as did the experts) stated we needed 2 to 3 loans with a modicum of experience to get us through). The argument that we have to do it the "get loads in and sell way," i find amusing. Six months on from the summer plan, we then decide we have far too big a squad and need to offload!! Have they asset stripped? Not sure we know nut they have stripped the paying public of trust and that may come next season about renewal time....
it may be a small company by turnover definition but if the net asset position has not deteriorated by more than £4.5m and they employ more than 50 they will still have to file accounts for a medium sized company.
I think we’ve also got to remember, the club don’t have any physical assets apart from a some kit, stock and training equipment. The club don’t own Oakwell - only rent it. Players (as mentioned earlier) are technically not assets (although in real-terms they are). The owners don’t have anything to strip - which is the whole point of BMBC retaining interest in Oakwell. Player trading is the path we have chosen to survive and not run into debt. Southampton are similar.
My god asset stripping must be the in thing, luton, wigan, norwich, bolton, southend, tranmere, west ham etc, there all doing it.
