I don't normally like having a go at our players like that SB, but I stick by what I said to be honest. Davies really is that bad these days and his poor judgment and all round keeping skills are getting worse, and its costing us relegation. For that reason I think we're entitled as fans to have a go (its not a hate mob though, as some call it)
I'm one of the few who didn't think it was his fault. He couldn't have anticipated a headed lob, one if the hardest skills in the game. It screwed off Brownhill's bonce at a jaunty angle, spinning and looping viciously. It was a fluke and Davies did well to get a hand to it.
Sorry it is a hate mob led by the chief troll. Davies has lost confidence having been forced by our poor management to play through a run of poor form. That’s our fault not his. He has been an excellent player for us over the last 2 seasons and no rewriting of history will change it. The bottom line is we have no other option so we can either get behind him and offer him our support or continually criticise. Moore missed a sitter on Saturday. Potts missed from 2 feet out with the goalie on the floor. McBurnie missed a free header from the 6 yard box. Yiadom was at fault for the first goal. McCarthy at least in part for the second. All players make errors. If we had not managed our squad so poorly forcing 2 Head Coaches to continue playing Davies when he clearly needs a rest. Goalkeeper is an unforgiving position. We have left Davies out to dry.
I presume you mean Friday, but I've got a mental block about this "sitter" he missed. I can't remember it at all! I can remember one in the second half when he was clear, but the keeper did well to turn it round the post. I suppose he could have finished it better. What am I missing?
genuine question , not a dig , do you actually attend the matches ? as I am sure you recently posted on Tykesmad that you do not attend, unless I am mistaken
No its not a hate mob for goodness sake, for me its a case of fans being entitled to pick fault where its deserved. I know other players were missing sitters and we should have had it wrapped up against Bristol long before stoppage time, but the keepers role is an important one and the fact he/Davies doesn't inspire anymore confidence than Townsend or even an U23 keeper right now, that shows how bad hes become. None of this changes how good he used to be, in the amazing 15-16 season, and surely nobody is trying to re-write history. But his faults were starting to happen even last season and yes it might also be down to rank bad managemet and coaching etc, but Davies can NOT be allowed to come through this totally blameless. This run of appalling form has gone on for over a year now, its not just all of a sudden is it. And Red Cb I did not post that I dont attend matches, but its an argument/subject that I refuse to get involved in anyway.
It seems other goalkeepers are getting abuse too. I've just read this on the Sunderland forum about their keeper Lee Camp "wtf was camp doing for that goal??? A bloody halibut would have blocked the ball better than that. Useless fuckwit turd."
Maybe we should try an octopus in the nets? Although knowing our luck he'd be carried off injured after getting hit in the tentacles.
Of course it does, if you attended you would say so & then say you did not want to discuss it further , whilst I respect anyone"s opinion , I tend to think that people who attend are in a better place to judge rather than people who rely on information passed on to make their judgements
