Changing operating systems on a laptop. Advice please.

    I've just restored factory settings andI was thinking - before I start re-installing stuff - how much of a job would it be to ditch Vista and install XP?</p>

    You would have no drivers for the laptop so you would have to find each one seperate. Maybe you would get lucky and XP would pick up all the hardware in one go. I've never seen that happen but there's an urban myth that it has.

    If you format the drive you could loose the link to the backup for your system or even the ghost file so you would be unable to go back.

    I've done it on laptops that have had the hard drive replaced and its been fine when all the drivers are downloaded.
