    Why did we get rid of him? he played a key part and scored plenty of goals during 05/06 season and he ended up at tranmere. Very weird.

    not quite how I remember it.
    I thought he was offered a new contract after our play-off promotion and turned it down and then changed his mind but in the meantime the club moved on and withdrew the offer.
    Not certain but my recollections.

    Once met him at a hotel in Gretna for my sister-in-law’s wedding. Seemed a real nice fella and said he never wanted to leave Barnsley as he’d always been happy there.

    I thought we'd offered the contract, but he took forever to agree to it, and by the time he's made his mind up the club withdrew the offer and moved on to other targets? It was something along those lines anyway...

    He was best mates with Nardiello and the reason Nardiello left the following summer was down to the way Gordon Shepherd treated Shuker in contract negotiations.

    I think it was the delay to agree to the contract
    He was looking to better it.
    The club if I remember said no ,we have moved on which I don't blame them

    Lad I know bumped into him in a Liverpool night club day after Cardiff final. Got talking to him - bought my mate a few drinks. Gave him a lift home because he fancied his girlfriend's mate :):)

    He was offered a new contract which was initially rejected.
    The offer remained on the table when he went on holiday and when he came back, he had decided to accept it.
    Meanwhile Gordon Shepherd had got the monk on because Shuker had taken so long, so showed him who was boss by taking the offer off the table and letting him go.

    I thought Nardiello would have been better staying with us. Fell down the leagues after his failure at QPR. I would have liked to see Shuker get his chance in the Championship. I thought he was better than both Mcindoe and Devaney.
