    He looks like Joe Hart having reinvented himself as an outfield player. Excited by this signing. It feels like the sun's suddenly come out over Oakwell.

    Pleasing thing for me after reading his comments on the official website is he seems really chuffed
    to have signed for our Club quote " especially one like Barnsley".

    To my mind that's a ringing endorsement as to how we are now being perceived by young up and coming ambitious
    players. He's moved from a Premiership Club to a progressive Championship Club (probably on the recommendation
    of Tom Bradshaw ) in the knowledge he'll probably have a good chance of playing regularly and improving himself in
    the process.

    A warm welcome Jason lad. I for one look forward to see you playing for the Super Reds.

    Don't think we'll have any trouble attracting talented, ambitious young players, it's keeping them for more than a season that's our problem.

    I imagine the main reason he's here is that he's seen us develop players in the last couple of years who have bettered their wage and their career and wants some of it.

    Looks a good signing from what I've read about him. Here's hoping for a couple more in soonish too.

    Mallan & McCarthy have signed 3 year deals, if they do emerge into really good players this means we will be able to cash in on them quite well. We cannot do anything other than this as our finances are not massive. If it keeps us in the Championship at a respectable level then that's just fine by me. Also we get to see very talented players like Mawson, Watkins, Hourihane, Holgate, Stones etc play for the Reds... again that's fine by me.

    Didn't realise he had been used in a attacking role by Walsall. Looks very good for someone who is 21years old. If Cole K has a good Pre season,we would have a tall back 4.

    He joined Walsall in June 2016 and Tom Bradshaw signed for us a month later so they
    must have had contact no matter how brief at the Bescot.

    We can't prove it but I would bet he touched base with Tom before making his decision.

    Now't to say they didn't meet up at Oakwell as well because it looks as though he came
    for preliminary talks before deciding to sign a permanent deal.
    Always good to see a familiar face around the place.

    what a cracking video from the media team.... beats the usual standard single photo shoot.
    Cracking piece of work, shows the players humorous and good natured side too.
    Almost has the hallmark of one of whiteys video montage things!

    10 out of 10 for that.

    If he's a centre back, why does the video show him scoring goals?

    Personally I'd like to see him making tackles and heading crosses away......
