'Our lass' is from Denby Dale and all the 'Dalers' called people from Barnsley 'Codheads'! Has anybody any idea why? (chinny)
now im sure this is not the answer BUT back in the Good old days when Barnsley Played at Grimsby some supporters took Coal to Grimsby and when Grimsby came to Barnsley they Brought FISH TRUE M8 as i said dont think that is the reason But yer neer know do yerr
well i cam over here in 1968 when i used to home to Birdwell in those days the oldtimers use to say you brought some fish BOB and they told me of thier younger days just back in the Old days
Haddock?...... They did the Harry the Haddock inflatables when they went to Wimbledon in 1989. But methinks quite a few folk from Barnsley used to refer to Grimsby supporters as 'Codheads' down the years? Buggar knows why Denby Dalers call people from barnsley it though? Maybe it's because the mobile fishmongers in the area emanated from our part of the world?
