There’s been a few posts saying that Birmingham were awful and if they were any better they’d have got something.

Isn’t that the whole point? They aren’t better. Neither were Sunderland, Burton. Millwall.

    Forest were ok I guess.

The point is that some of the sides that have spent millions, or receive millions in parachute payments, don’t look any better than our side of young players mainly from lower divisions. Sides with similar budgets look worse than us too. Nobody has a younger side in the division.

We are competing in the majority of games against all comers, rarely completely outclassed (Bristol and villa?), and are picking up points regularly and at a decent rate.

If the opposition were better we might not. If we were better we’d win every week. Bit of a nonsense thing to say. We were better than Birmingham City yesterday and got a comfortable and deserved three points.

We're doing better than most of us expected, but it's never enough.

    Everything's ****, just sometimes it's less ****.

Most clubs fans are ambitious. Most clubs fans are grounded and happy to see their clubs do well. OUR fans are the 'told you so' brigade.

I think a lot of the time fans miss the point that we often make teams look awful. We run ourselves into the ground, no Paul Heckingbottom team carries passengers, there’s no Mellis, McCourt etc, everyone dedicated.

I often see teams slated as **** on here but they get results at other places straight before we play them or straight after.

For example didn’t Sunderland come into the game against us full of confidence after battering Norwich 3-0 & they actually played well for the first 15 mins before we took over

Read any forum and Facebook page you like and you'll find our fans are exactly the same as every other club in the country.

Just a lot of people with different opinions.

Sunderland were by far the better team until we scored against the run of play and they gave in.

We've got our wins against 4 of the what you would imagine will be bottom sides and a team that avoided relegation by 2 goals last season. Rarely do we look anything other than poor against anyone better. We certainly aren't enjoyable to watch as a team.

We are doing fantastically well ........... under the circumstances.
Key words there being 'under the circumstances'.
We have Hecky and his backroom staff at the club that's keeping the ship afloat and doing a brilliant job.
As for the rest of the club - let's just say, it could do much much better.

I’ve enjoyed watching the team, gradual improvement all season so far and looking better all the time. Pretty much what I hoped for at the start of the season.

Given the current situation bringing through youngsters, learning week by week, we're not likely to see a season of champagne football.
As a reds fan of 50 years no matter which way you dress it up there haven't been many seasons where you could guarantee flowing football every week.
Thought on Saturday we played some nice stuff in patches.
Was it the best football in 20 years? No.
Was it rubbish to watch? No.
It was a reasonable performance against a rubbish team and we put them away. Happy with that.
Maybe later this season, if they continue to develop we could see some really good stuff.

I disagree. Really enjoyed the Forest & Ipswich performances & the Morecambe game in the cup was a brilliant watch.

In fact I’m struggling to think of a home game I’ve not enjoyed.

The slightly worrying thing for me is that arguably our 2 most effective performers are not our own. I’m talking about Williams and Barnes.

Good point I remember when we lost to Bristol on the opening day and the bus was in meltdown. We had just lost to a awful Bristol side who are nailed on to get relegated (they are 4th).

They must have a good manager to be overachieving in the way they are against such low expectations

Ha he is useless worst manager in the football league I expect them to go on a winless run from now until end of the season and finish bottom.

Didn't get to the Forest game but by all accounts they missed chance after chance? I just see no fluidity in our play. I can't get excited by the side at all, one or two players being the exception.

    My thoughts also .
I thought first few games we were all at sea at times but at other times when they got it together you could see the discipline and coaching in the displays ,
Game by game as the confidence comes and the coaching takes hold you can see the players getting more confident and settling in the formations/ tactics.
Mistakes are still made but the recovery and acknowledgement of what to do is getting clearer to see .
I've enjoyed watching the journey of these young players and I think sometime this season we are going to see some mesmerising displays

Whilst I completely agree I also note that often the more "successful" sides in the Championship tend to have that luxury player who when on song is the difference between 0/1 point and 3 points but it also means that the other 10 have to work even harder when that luxury player has a Regi Blinker.

Saiz at Leeds, Jota at Brentford (last season), Hernandez at Leeds (again last season) plus the likes of Tomlin, Bannan (not so much this season as he has upped his game as a more all round midfielder) et al are all luxuries that can turn a game in a heartbeat.

I'd love to see someone with the technical ability of a Dean Gorre or Diego Leon in this XI behind the striker, for me they were completely the right players but at the wrong time, often thrust out wide in a flat 4-4-2 where their flaws were exposed but abilities not given a true opportunity to shine.
