Again showing today how he's capable of getting under the opponents skin. Like Peterborough last season, getting an opponent player sent off (and in all fairness it should have been 2 red cards today). Some consider it nasty, I think it's clever. Over last few seasons I feel we've been too nice and not had that ability to win cheap free kicks. Every time there keeper spent an eternity taking a goal kick, he was in the ref's ear. If he was a rival player he'd piss me right off. But I love what he does for us. And if Roy Keane was in the stand today, he would have seen a little bit of himself in Conor's performance today.
I agree he's always been good with the gamesmanship. Moving the ball for free kicks when the ref isn't looking, going down like he's been shot under challengers, niggly little things in tackles that aren't always seen by the ref ect. Today won't be the last player he gets sent off this season
Agree that he knows what he's doing with regards to these sort of things but today he didn't really get anyone sent off. Mcleary came out of nowhere and shoved him to the ground? Stupidity on his part. He was having a very good game too!
He came out of nowhere because he started leaning over the injured player probably saying something to him so he stuck up for his pal. He had to go but the push wasn't as bad as Conor laid dead out on the floor made it look. Great asset to have in our team.
I'm sure Roy Keane watching from the stands saw abit of himself in how Conor played today. Hopefully looking at an international call up in a few weeks time.
Have you seen the replay, for some reason Connor after a terrible challenge on their player decided he would jump up and have a go at him whilst he was on the ground. He'll not be doing that again, McCleary threw him to the floor like a kids doll. Surprised the ref didn't show two reds.
I thought both at the time and after the replay that Cnor clearly won the ball and the player was feigning injury. Conor obviously also thought so and was making his feelings known.
Yep. CH very luck to stay on the field. He got McCleary sent off by accident, not by design. Probably annoyed that he had been standing off Swift for the second goal. Still a superb player, mind.
I'd like Conor to cut all that crap out of his game and concentrate on being the very good player he has the potential to be. They've been warned about dissent and trying to influence referees and sooner or later this will cost Conor. Keane should be a role model for nobody.
I have seen the replay again and I agree it wasn't a great challenge by Hourihane and I'm not sure why he feels the need to have a go at the guy on the floor but why would it be 2 red cards? What exactly did Conor do to warrant a red in that situation? The guy who was on the floor should've got a red moments later for his stamp on Conor completely off the ball. How can a stamp be a yellow just the same as swearing??
I honestly never saw anything for Connor to get sent off for. The challenge was no more worse ( if he had touched him at all) than Hammill had endured all game. The player man handled another player end of.
The foul CH committed wasn't the first altercation between the two of them, it stated 5 mins before when Hammill concede a foul on halfway. "mop head man" starting mouthing off at CH who took it all, no retaliation. Their player was goading him right and proper every time they came close to each other. 5 mins later CH saw his chance and boy did he take it. Id love to know what he said to him while he was on the floor. Well done Conor, stick up for yourself lad COYR
A terrible foul and then leaping up to have a go at the player on the floor, I've seen them sent off for less.
They'd had a little do five minutes before. Williams was in Hourihane's face, but I didn't see what caused it. I could tell Conor was going to go in like he did. Fair play to him.
Agree. He's a bugger for it and I don't like to see it. I am up in arms about it when players from other teams do the same, so it would be hypocritical to say it's OK because its Conor and he plays for us. The tackle was not great, fair enough it happens and I am not sure what went before. But he should not be in the players face, that reminded me far too much of Roy Keane and Alf Inge-Haarland, which was criminal. And then to stay on the floor for a full 2 minutes as if he'd been shot after being pushed backwards - that's just pathetic. Conor is a superb player, but just cut the crap. It's not clever.
