It would make sense if it's a percentage. If Collins' trigger is 50% of games for instance, 23 would invoke the clause.
Changing subject slightly. When Chris Lumsdon was here. He was benched because the club couldn't afford to play him. It made me wonder what sort of money he was on and what the club agreed to pay Sunderland if it crippled us so much that we'd rather get relegated than stump up the cash?
Yeah it was. Although his loan to Grimsby wasn't meant to be permanent. He infuriated Gudjon Thordarson by celebrating his goal against us and was released as a result.
Yeah but that will decrease with the relegation clause so he might make for the (alpine) hills - and he’ll probably be allowed to leave on the cheap if we go down. As for the OP, it’s definitely a theory. Not one I throw much credence to though - appearance related bonuses aren’t generally that high; appearance triggered pay rises that give significant increases aren’t that common to clubs at our level (possible for Collins I guess but I’d be surprised). I think the sometimes bizarre team selections are due to our head coach having sometimes bizarre ideas as to what our best side is on any given match day. For example I find it bizarre that Marcel Ritzmaier would be close to our best team, yet he plays every game! There are bound to be some reasons we don’t know about effecting team selection though. I do wonder if Oduor has had a go on Struber’s Mrs, or ran his dog over maybe. Can’t think of any other reason he’d be so out of favour, behind the Williams’, Ritz, Thomas and arguably even Styles for wide left - when he looked a real player when selected earlier in the season.
