Isn’t the workaround to loan players?
If a player is owned by one of our ‘family’ of clubs can they carry on ‘employing’ him whilst he’s playing in England?

 

You would still need a work permit in coming and to pass the "GBE" test if from another country post brexit. If you're loaning to the continent, I would imagine they would require a work permit given we are then treated as a third country.

Not sat down and worked it out, but I think someone like Schmidt would be OK if he was signing for the U23 but if he wanted to be moved into the first team squad would have to qualify.
Exception panel is only for January 2021
Permit can be for no longer than 3 years.
Every time a player is transferred they have to reapply (does that bring into resale value issues).
Highly unlikely Sol would have qualified

Guessing then likes of Sancho, Bellingham etc would have struggled to go to Germany then?

I'd hope so, or they missed their European targets and then had to scramble for ones in the domestic market which had a lengthier window. I think Sollbauer would have got enough points considering his age experience and all the games he's played. Seems to suggest league position plays a part too.

I think signings like Andersen and Diaby might have been more difficult.

 

I suspect the Uk would simply default to be classed as a third country under their existing rules. I'm sure there will be some examples in january to test how the rules work and what longer term changes we might be faced with.

 

Just had a quick look and looks like if his previous club hadn’t made into Europe he would have been around 12-14 points which would go to exceptions panel.
