Fantastic news a Labour leader who actually believes in the principles of the labour movement. Someone outside the Westminster bubble. An electoral pact with the Greens and SNP would be interesting coupled with a reinvigorated youth vote. It may fail it may succeed but at least it's honest politics.
Did you mean Murdoch? Anyway totally agree with your posts The only non democratic people are the labour MP's who have become so comfortable with the status quo of politics are now resigning or speaking out at the decision because they are in danger of being found out.they have been too well rewarded often for failure disguised as parliamentary privileges.
He said that he couldn't think of any reason to go to war. The concern is that giving an answer such as 'the invasion of another country' or for us to be attacked by another country would not make him a warmonger but by giving the answer he did does give ammunition (no pun intended) to those doing a hatchet job on him. The first responsibility of a prime minister is the safety of the nation.
TBH I dinna see too much wrong with his answer. Big change from the likes of Thatcher and Blair who needed very little excuse to go to war.
Tony Blair and David Camereon made our country so safe by going to war and now we've got those damned over cautious Loony lefties, there'll be mayhem.
riiiiiiiiipppppppppppppppppppppp That's the sound of the Tories ripping up their short term policies and moving on to long term serious stuff. Sorry but IMHO anybody who thinks they are scared of him or that he will be electable outside hardline Labour strongholds are kidding themselves.
If people wanted to elect the Green Party they would've done. The notion that going back to the 1970s is going to make Labour a threat is laughable. Even with all the ammunition of austerity, welfare cuts, food banks, Labour couldn't rally enough support to oust the Tories. Unless you're suggesting that there are millions of voters who couldn't bother to vote Labour even though they despised the Tories then all Labour have done is concede the middle ground. If anybody is scared it is those in the Labour party who recognise this, and that is why the infighting has already started. Still, I'm all right. Hope the benefits cap comes down another couple of thousand.
Iraq was a disaster but that wasn't the question. The point was more to do with the possible withdrawal from NATO, the scrapping of Trident and the defence of the nation. Nobody wants a war, any reasonable prime minister would only send our troops to war as a last resort but if the worst was to happen a prime minister has to consider it.
Interesting times ahead! A successful party has to take the centre ground. Under Corbyn the Labour Party has shifted massively to the Left, that leaves the Tories free to move to the Left and claim the centre ground. However what may well happen is that the many 'anti' Corbyn M.P. will form their own party and claim the central ground. That is the Labour Party will split and the Tories if they can avoid imploding over Europe will win the next election.
