Is this the only nod to the original thread title in the whole six pages? :)

Caroline Lucas is very willing to work with Jez and I think that would be a very positive step all round. The SNP would be the clincher, though how they would go following brexit, is another matter... great post, btw...

I think Corbyn should have given her a place in his shadow cabinet.

If a left coaltion offered people proportional representation I think it really could start to build a route to power

I don't agree with this - what Milliband showed is that the appetite for left of centre politics has disappeared - whether you agree with the view that Milliband was left wing or not is not important - the general perception of him amongst the electorate was that he was left wing and people neither want that ideology or trust the people heading it up to be competent in charge of the finances of the country.

Now the party has moved even further to the left and the current opinion polls showing the Tories an almost unprecedented 17 points ahead, mid term as the incumbent government, when almost half the country are not happy about the direction we are about to take as a country following Brexit, shows to me just how little of an appetite for left wing politics this country has got.

There are lots of traditional Labour voters who hold the view that the party has moved too far to the left and / or that Corbyn is not a feasible Prime Minister, and are therefore currently of the opinion that they will not vote Labour at the next election - hence the current polls. In order to even get near to power he not only has to convert these traditional Labour supporters back to voters, but he has to persuade an awful lot of people who voted Conservative last time to go for his brand of politics - people who wouldn't go near Milliband because he was perceived to be too left wing. It is not going to happen as long as I have a hole in my 'arris.

IMHO this ignores some of the key factors at play in the last election, not least Cameron stoking the fear of the SNP, the collapse of the Lib Dems in Tory marginals and the ultimate grab at power in offering the EU referedum. Lets not forget that the (small) 16 seat Tory majority was completely unexpected until 10pm on general election night. Or the fact that 31 of the seats the Tories won are under police investigation for fraudulent spending of campaign funds. The right has the same existential crisis going on as the left, all to be brought to fore again by Brexit.
