Newquay, next weekend. We were supposed to be there at Easter, but obviously that got cancelled. This is the only time we can all get the holiday in as a family due to other commitments. Won’t be bothering with bars/pubs unless it’s quiet. Just walks, surfing and eating/ drinking back at the lodge.
Hope you have a good time, can't see the pubs being quiet. If teh weathers good then beaches have been busy the last few weeks regardless. If you want to come inland towards the moors there's some good walks that may miss the crowds (apart from teh weekends.)
Just to make you feel better, the weather was quite good for most of this week( gone proper ***** today though)
Thanks... I’m in no hurry to go to pubs to be honest, and my other half is a real ale drinker - and hasn’t really found a suitable watering hole in Newquay, so it’s no big deal. We might visit some new places, and I think we’re heading to the foot golf at St Austell, as we enjoyed that last year. Love Cornwall - just takes forever to get there! Shame is that i was supposed to be flying down from Manchester, after a weekend in Sweden, but that got cancelled, so instead I have to do battle with the M5 with the rest of the family. ,
Its been awful up here but I have been looking at the weather every day just to see what we're missing. Gutted that we had to cancel.
Sadly Newquay caters to the masses so Spoons an St Awfull beers dominate the pubs. If you venture out a bit there''s a couple of pubs in Perranporth who do slightly better local beers. Some places in Padstow stock Padstow brewery on tap, but they're not cheap. In a normal year I might be able to give you a couple of real ale festivals that would be going on, but this isn't normal so not too sure whats actually happening now.
You're not goign to be too far from me in that case. I regularly cycle from mine to Looe as a short but fairly hilly route.
We’ll not be going near Padstow this time - always rammed and difficult to socially distance at the best of times. We did have a nice beer there last year though. When we went to Perranporth last year it was also chocca. If the beaches look too packed we won’t go on them, but I hear it will be quieter than usual, so hopefully ok.
I travelled to Bude yesterday. We never left our cottage after we arrived at 11am. Thick fog and drizzle all day. It is a little better this morning but gales are forecast for this afternoon. The weather is playing tricks on us all this year after long sunny spells during lock-in.
