Major surgery will not diminish barnsley66's passion at a match one iota, that's for sure. I've even heard him screaming at players when it's only a preseason friendly!:D

The OP went well. Epidural was fantastic. I could hear the sawing, drilling, and hammering yet never felt a thing. In fact, at one point I fell asleep!

I was in theatre about 3 hours including anaesthetic, the operation, and recovery. Introduced the anaesthetist to the delights of the Goon Show.

Took about12 hours for the epidural to wear off and finally have a piss!

Slight problem with blood pressure being too low, but this can occur and will right itself.

I can assure BigLil and everyone i will be ready for the new season. If I'm on crutches I'll be there.

    Bring it on!

Good to hear you're OK bud. My hip replacement op is on the 15th July.
I've been told I'm having an epidural as well. Good luck with the physio. You should be available
for selection by end of September.!

My lad who also supports the Reds says I should be up and around by the next Bank Hobbledy Monday.

I was a little worried about it, but I was worried about nothing. The pain from the hip has gone. Obviously there is some from the incision, but that will go as the muscles heal.

6 weeks before I can drive, and 12 weeks before I go back to work. Just be careful in how you move, no twisting of the hip until fully healed. Definitely be back for the first game of the season.

That's encouraging to hear. My Sister who lives in Birmingham is coming to see me for a few days
before I go in. She was a very good sprinter and hurdler in her younger days and due to all the training and
excercises she did back then she had to have two new hips in her early forties.
She's just had her right one done again and is having her left hip replaced in October.
She seems to have sailed through it all so I'm optimistic about my procedure.
I will take your advice on board. Thanks for that and every good wish for your future.
