Anyone been there before if so any info would be appreciated. Especially regarding tickets for test matches. TIA.
Just come back from Sri Lanka, visited Galle on Friday. No idea about the cricket but saw the ground - nice little spot close to the fort & plenty going on. Loadsa places to stay around the coast - we stayed in Unawatuna & Koggala which were 25 minutes away from Galle in a Tuktuk and cost us £15 for return and for the fella to show us round the city so travel's not a problem. Probably absolutely useless to you tbf.
Been to Galle, but not for the cricket, beautiful place, the old walled citadel was the only bit to survive the tsunami, the cricket ground had to be completely rebuilt. It was bloody hot...... I recommend a safari at the (relatively) nearby Yala national park, we saw a Leopard, wild elephants and crocodiles amongst many others.
God I love business travel. I'll tell you about my month in India next time I see you & fill you in my next US technology transformation adventure.
It might be a couple of quid usually but that goes out of the window when england are in town. Me and the wife went to the last Galle test, think it was 2012. The Aussies had played there not too long before and paid a couple of quid a ticket, the Sri Lankans upped it to £25 a day for us so £200 for 4 days I would assume the fact that it was still full they will do the same again. Still one of the best cricket trips I have done and for the tight wads you could get a decent view from the fort.
Stayed just outside Colombo, not long after the Tsunami and the country was still recovering. Saw elephants but no cricket and a bar covered in Barnsley FC graffiti from a cricket tour a few years earlier. Those tuk tuks are fecking mental.
