When we finished with 82 points and lost to Ipswich in the play offs.

Prior to that in 96/97 we finished second to Bolton and went up on 80 points.

We already have more points than our 2005/06 and 2015/16 play off seasons. (72 points and 74 points)

I still fancy us to take second spot this season.

I fancy us as well. Fans of other clubs reading a lot into our recent draws. Talking about pressure and choking etc, but 3 of the goalless draws were against Pompey and Sunderland which suited us more than them, and Donny, who have a really good home record. 3 good teams, none of them managed to score against us.

I fully expect us to put a couple of wins together now and really ramp up the pressure.

Hope you are right. Could do with no more injuries / suspensions to first team players though.

Too tight to call for me. We'll be watching Sunderland results as they'll be watching ours. Had we a fully fit squad I'm pretty sure we'd do it. Without, dunno, we'll see...

Sunderland will drop points im surprised they’ve only lost 2 all season they’ve some tough fixtures left. Not been that impressed with them apart from the 1st 30 mins at SOL earlier in the season against us.

Donny fan on FH was saying he'd been up to watch Sunderland on Saturday, and reckoned they could easily have been beaten by walsall, who played very well.

Matt Murray on Soccer Saturday said quite the opposite. Sunderland had loads of chances and didn't take them. Should have won more comfortably. I think we'll have to settle for play-offs. We don't score enough goals of late. Woodrow isn't the same player without support either.

I've every faith in us making top two. It's only 3 games ago we won comfortably with a man short for majority of the game.

McGeehan and Brown back on Saturday and possibly Pinillos, plus we don't need to score a load of goals because we keep clean sheets.

Weve got tough but very winnable games for rest of season. Woodrow is looking tired the lad will have not played this many games at this intensity before and its showing. Not bringing a striker in in Jan might be the killer blow to top 2. Think midfield will be ok with no more injuries or suspensions. Defense is defo carrying team with moore out.

For me 3rd or 4th behind Sunderland and maybe Portsmouth. Poor recruitment in January yet again due to “pecuniary conservatism” will probably cost us promotion. When will they ever learn?

Far too early to be asking that question for me. It's like doing the postmortem before anyone died.

So we've had a few goalless draws against the other top teams. If we were playing badly I might be concerned, but we're not, so I'm not.

I was more concerned that we didn't score ten against Accrington.

We comfortably beat them, which was more than Sunderland managed.

Out of our remaining games what would be a good points tally? I'd go 91 pts.

That would mean Sunderland would need to win 6 of their remaining 9 games and score 7 more goals than us to top our goal difference.

    Football eh?

I think play offs is most likely, but then again I am naturally pessimistic. You can draw your own conclusions on how much my natural pessimism is a side effect of supporting Barnsley.

Sunderland won't win all of their games, but neither will we, and while they have a lot of games to play they also have more experience and a bigger squad.

What were your expectations after beating Southend and Accrington?

My expectation was for there to be more twists and turns. I might be more confident of top 2 if we win the next 2.

I think considering the suspensions we've done ok. Sunderland and Luton have only gained 2 points more than us in that time and we've remained unbeaten and still playing well.

It's "as you were" on Saturday with Brown and McGeehan back in the team.
