    As a non labour supporter, i agree that he would have been a good candidate. He is precisely the kind of new blood that the party should be looking for. If they go for a Burnham or an Yvette Cooper type then they won't have moved on at all.

    Perhaps a little experience first in the Shadow Cabinet may put him more in the public spotlight. Allows him to get a bit more recognition. His time may come later.
