    Got a mate who’s a West Brom fan. Very disillusioned by the running of the club. Says no thought gone into manager search and it’s almost like they’ve picked Val’s name out of the hat.

    The spreadsheets/algorithm are “intellectual property” of BFC. James Cryne could not walk away with them, never mind Dane Murphy.

    But he will also be working on transferring players in that he might also think are a good fit for Forest.

    There's a reason so many high level execs get sent on gardening leave rather than working their notice or being sacked.

    Exclusive only in the sense that he came up with it. That doesn’t make it unrepeatable. There are plenty of data scientists out there, just as capable as James Cryne.

    Correct, the text of the ‘Intellectual Property Act’ excludes the copyright of ideas. However, algorithms can now be considered ‘trade secrets’ and patented. Not withstanding the IPA being Statutory law, intellectual property can be protected via civil/contract action. I can verify this as a former employee of BFC and in previous employment (not BFC) where I developed intellectual property it was written into my terms of employment and the NDA.
