Sorry BMW how dare you! Just because you share your initals with a german car company. How dare you defend a coach who has not even took the lid off the pen. How dare you speak with sense on here.
Great comparison. Struggled first season and nearly got relegated. Took time for him to implement his playing style and recruit players to suit it. Will Stendel be given the same time if we are struggling in his first season competing in a division where we are favourites for promotion?
Robert Wagner had no experience of solving crimes before he became a self made millionaire. He's quite a guy.
I suppose that depends on whether you’re asking if the club will give him time or whether the fans will. Unfortunately as we’ve seen on here today there are certain fans who quite bizarrely appear to be gasping for him to fail as it suits their agenda. I’d hazard a guess that the knives will be out early doors in certain quarters.
Unfortunately, very sad but very true regarding certain fans. The guy has just signed and people are already wanting him to fail in order that they can say ‘I told you so’.
That’s very true. We’ve had people today heavily criticising it and labelling the criticism as ‘foresight’. It’s just daft. Stendel wasn’t my first choice, I didn’t even know who he was until Saturday yet I’ll back him. It’s very weird that some are so against it.
Completely agree, let’s get behind him and hopefully that support will .be reflected on the pitch. It’s a time to unify not criticise and moan.
I admit there are fans like that but I'm not one of them. I want him to succeed but there just isn't any basis upon which to be optimistic. To me it is similar to Heckingbottom's appointment by Leeds.....he didn't have the experience to meet their targets.....doesn't mean either are bad coaches. Our fans, me included, have a right to demand a promotion challenge next season....the club have been backed with the number of fans renewing season tickets and we are better equipped than the majority in the division. This seems speculative at best and very odd after the last appointment.
Possibly. I think that the point is that lack of experience at first team level isn’t necessarily a barrier to success. Stendel not only as experience (albeit limited) at first team level he also has circa 6 years coaching experience at youth level.
I agree that this appointment came out of nowhere, but I am willing to give him a chance and hopefully the board have learnt their lesson, once bitten, twice shy as the saying goes. I could be wrong, but like others on here, I feel more confident about this appointment. It is also fair to say that he has a clean slate, can potentially look to get his preferred players in during this window and take the team and club forward. Morais never had this option and ultimately failed and the rest, as we say, is history.
Bang on. But him & Huddersfield are an anomaly. All the data says that - a once in a generational performance where everything clicked & it worked. If this was true Moneyball, it would've been dismissed as such & trust placed in 'The System'. I can't imagine we have but I really hope we've not got caught up in a trend for German head coaches because of his performance these last 3 years.
