    Once Butland goes.

    Hopefully Butland doesn't bother.

In the meantime the club just keep hanging. I'd be withdrawing the deal and moving onto new targets.

They're wanting 23 million for Butland as well apparently. We can't hold us our keeper search just waiting and hoping that Davies doesn't get the move he wants.

Agreed. Fair play to him if he gets the move he wants but we cant be kept dangling. Walton will want to know where he stands too

Exactly. The lad has rejected a contract and moved on Not getting fixed up at his ideal choice is one of the risks he takes.

We need to be moving on then regardless of Butland. I love Davies and will definitely thank him on the way out but if we aren't his first choice we need to find someone who wants to be here

Give him while Friday to sign if he doesn't withdraw the offer and open the goalkeeper tab on the spreadsheet and see who we can get as a replacement

IMO he obviously doesn't want to play here next season so withdraw the offer with immediate effect. We should only be keeping hold of players who are invested in the clubs journey.

He has been a decent player for the club but if he is prepared to head off to Stoke or anywhere else where he may just be a bench warmer then I don't want to see him in a Barnsley shirt next season.

Good luck to him but fill the squad with players whose head is the game..

Was obvious he was off when he totally fumbled his way through that question about being here next season in the later part.

Would hope we have been lining up our next keeper from around March time.

Aren't we meant to be signing a German keeper? If true I hope he's just as good as Muller was for us

We’ve offered him a good deal (I believe) - I hope (& presume) that we’re looking for a replacement- the offer should be time-limited!

Season has been over for more than a month. He's had enough time now. Withdraw it and find someone who wants to be with us.

I wouldn't be withdrawing the contract offer. I think Davies is a great keeper. I heard a while ago that it's more or less assured that he's gone, but I've heard stuff before that appeared to be nailed on that never came to fruition. If he has been offered 25 grand a week then good luck to him he's got to accept that. But maybe it's not that much, maybe it's substantial, significantly more than we can afford, but he likes it here so he's still deciding. I don't think we should be cutting off our nose to spite our face in such a situation. We should be doing all we can to make him feel wanted. He's class. Maybe that won't be enough, but let's at least try. He's not taking us for mugs. He's given us all he has. He's got the best record of any keeper we've ever had. So we talk to him and if he goes, he goes, but there might be a possibility he stays.

Absolutely withdraw the offer now he's had long enough. He's gonna be stuffed if Butland stays at Stoke

Changing subject a bit. You'd have to be an idiot to leave Barnsley right now. Considering that it's our new owners first crack at Championship for a full season without the Hecky induced black cloud.

They've just sold Nice and might be channelling their resources. If you're Davies, Lindsay or Mcgeehan and you leave for Stoke, Brescia or Sunderland now and the board splash out 12 million on four or five players and we make play-offs.

Pie in the sky I know. However, if I were them I'd be signing a new deal. They can always move on if it's a flash in pan.

I get that, he's been great for us and I'll be sad to see him go, but what if we have eyes on a replacement whose perfect, but wages rely on Davies going. We can't sign him until Davies has gone. If we keep the option open as long as Stoke drag their feet then we might miss out on the best replacement.
