I played decent level for 20 years in goal and there would have been at least two in A and E and one might have been me but that cross would not have hit the strikers head. I know at least 3 or 4 managers that would have killed me if it did. Four yards out for gods sake

 

What about the new owners making a cheeky bid for Manone.

 

His kicking is no worse than Steele’s, who I often criticised for his wayward kicks. He was also glued more to the goal line than Adam D. People have short memories.

 

This seriously can’t go on any longer now. Another bad, bad display today.

Shocking for Hogans second and looked out of his depth all game.

I genuinely can’t remember the last time he made a save that was out of the ordinary. Maybe Brentford away. Every shot at goal seems to go in and every attack he looks a nervous wreck.

On top of that he threw the ball directly out of play twice today when trying to find Yiadom. It was embarrassing. Hopefully we can make a change for next week.

Each game a player plays their performance is there to be judged.

If they keep playing poorly I’ll keep commenting on it.

 

Agreed, new keeper required urgently. Thankfully sounds like hecky has recognised that there's an issue.

 

I think your a good poster on here jimmy. But you must agree RAC has a point. Davies defiantly needs a rest for me cost us quite a few times this season even in the return fixture at oakwell he cost us he was in no man's land for the 2nd. Confidence looks shot need a new keeper to challenge asap.

 

I’d definitely say we need someone to offer proper competition to be able to replace him when needed. Davies record puts him amongst the best keepers we have ever had. Mooted replacement Eastwood has let more goals in a lower division and plays in a team that let 7 in the other week.

Is he the best keeper in the league no. Is he the best we can afford probably yes.

 

If you will criticise supporters who think that the manager has to take some responsibility for our league position and 1 win in god knows how long. We are awful to watch and generally a poor team. You could point the finger at Hecky. Criticise his tactical acumen and team selection. But choose not to because you ‘like’ him but feel the need to perpetually criticise Davies.

I like davies kept us in it in many games last season and previous but in my opinion he has had a bad season. Cost us on far too many occasions today, reading, villa at home Just 3 off top of my head. Poor kicking flapping at crosses looks a diffeent keeper to one of previous seasons. Maybe in Davies defence I don't think chopping and changing the back 4 helps like we have done all season when we had a settled back 4 for the past month we have conceded few but today this couldn't be helped. I can't comment on Eastwood I don't know much about him to be honest but Oxford fans seem to like him.

 

People have this perception of Davies that we can’t possibly do any better than him.

When it comes to every other position people are wanting better and asking why we aren’t getting it but when it comes to Davies certain posters refuse to believe we can get better.

Of course we can get better. He’s weak in ALL areas apart from shot stopping, and at the minute he’s also poor at that.

We’re recognised as one of the best clubs in the country for finding and developing players. Scouts are crawling around Oakwell. Almost all our promotion team moved on to bigger and better things. Davies has been on show to every scout who’s been at Oakwell over the last few years yet with all our success I can’t ever remember him being linked with a move away. That says a lot in my opinion.

I don’t know whether Eastwood is any good as I’ve never took notice of him. But one thing I do know is we cannot persist with Davies as even when disregarding his awful form at the back of last season he’s been dreadful since first game of the season at Bristol and it’s only got worse.

I criticised Hecky today...

 

Got a couple of mates who are Oxford fans. There verdict is mixed. Has looked good on occasions but also lost. Doesn’t control his box well but I’d a good shot stopper. Got a text after the first goal they let in today”Eastwoods indecision is always final’”.

I agree about Davie he is in poor form and needs someone to offer competition. I wouldn’t expect anyone we can afford to be better than him.

 

Why haven’t you been criticising him constantly since January 2017.

 

Because in my opinion he’s done very little wrong in that time.

Lost Hourihane, Winnall, Scowen, Roberts, Watkins, Bree ect and still managed to keep us out of the relegation zone whilst building and developing a team from scratch on a low budget.

 

How many league games have we won since then?

It’s easy to take pot shots. There are of course extenuating circumstances for Hecky so we should give him our full support despite results. The same for Davies when we had a settled defence he was a good Championship standard keeper. Like most goalies chop and change the back 4 every week and you would expect his standards to drop. Since we have been more settled at the back he had improved. Back to a changed formation today and unsurprisingly he looked less than convincing.

The difference is you don’t want to look at the circumstances for one but you do for the other.

Just seen the goals. He's ******* shocking at coming for that cross. Roll on the Oxford keeper turning up.

 

He was a good shot stopper. He’s never been good at everything else.

He needs dropping ASAP for the good of his own career and the team.

He looks poor even when we keep clean sheets. He hasn’t improved at all this season only got worse.

People seem to class making bread and butter saves or watching shots go wide/over as playing well. We need more from him whilst also cutting out the regular mistakes.
