I often wonder what would happen if all the passengers on a flight had opted to pay extra for Speedy Boarding?

Sounds like work. When everything is high priority, nothing actually is.

I find it hilarious people pay to get into a cramped area faster than everyone else and wait on a static plane for a lengthier period. Bonkers.

No speedy boarding, wait for the queue to board the flight to be minimal. Job done.

My favourite example (thankfully it was late and hardly anyone queuing) was a young woman who refused take off her sunglasses and huge sombrero style hat. Then kicked off that the technology should still recognise her. Sadly civil freedoms mean they couldn't detain her for several hours or treat her as a drug mule. Pity.

I think I'd rather pay extra to get on last.

    1) All tasks are either urgent, or can be ignored until they become urgent
    2) Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow

Unless you are on a 4 day business trip and trying to do it with hand luggage only - if you have one of the max allowed size hand luggage cases you really want to be on the plane in time to put it in an overhead locker before they all fill up. If I am flying with checked baggage and a small carry on bag I agree with you last on the plane is much better. If I have a maximum size carry on case I want to board no later than half way through

Completely agree. If i go on holiday i tend to take my camera - prob about 3k's worth of kit. I dont want it going in the hold as they often try to make you do when they run out and i dont want it too far away from where im sitting. If i wasnt carrying luggage id be the last person on if i had the choice.

I hate everything about airports other than the actual flying!

Check in at the end, get your bag put in the hold for free, wait no more than 5 minutes getting it off baggage claim.

Have you ever flown into Heathrow? 5mins is a little optimistic

I really like some of the smaller regional planes that have limited hand luggage space so they take any larger items off you as you board and give them back as you get off the plane. No hurry to board those planes.

I generally use Gatwick for shorter haul (though recently had a couple from Stansted), but use Heathrow once or twice a year. Its quite rare luggage isn't on the carousel by the time we get to baggage claim, at either airport. Might depend on the Terminal though. Think its been T2 and 3 from Heathrow.
