Expecting the usual at Oakwell tomorrow. Mcburnie and nothing else. Will be disappointed if that is all we get and think Hecky would be too
Not expecting much. Midfielder doubtful. Looks like McBurnie is our McLot. Would love a defensive midfielder also. Sam Morsy Darragh Lenihan please GG!!
Things can change quickly on deadline day so who knows what will happen. Hopefully finally get McBurnie over the line then a defensive midfielder ideally; Morsy would be terrific but can't see it
In: Jason Lowe (free transfer), Jordan Mutch and McBurnie in on loan. Out: Yids (undisc.), Mowatt (Loan) No source just made up!
I don't if this is right but I got told McBurnie travelled up to Barnsley the other night, stopped in a hotel then did his medical with us & had photos taken, he then drove back down to Swansea & then flew up to Scotland for under 21 duty the next day. Apparently Swansea want him to join us on loan but still won't give us the green light to do the deal until they've signed more forwards. So if they do we'll release the news with accompanying photos as if it's all done tomorrow even though he's with the Scotland squad. And if it doesn't go through he's wasted a day of his life on motorways / doing a medical for nothing
I'd honestly be tempted to tell Swansea to do one at this point. We're basically doing them a favour by taking him.
I despise that phrase. I feel we need someone in the mould of a Matty James or Josh Brownhill type. I think Williams could very well be that player, but strength in depth is key in this league. In terms of a defensive midfielder, Matty Pearson could end up doing that role if we really need one. I don't think we do.
Are we not cutting our nose off to spite our face though at this point. Ideally we could do with another striker as we only have 3 senior ones (not including Hedges who could very much do well up front potentially). Hecky must really rate this lad to hold out for so long. I'm still not convinced it's a loan deal despite being told it is by one of those 'in the know'. I find it really bizarre that we'd go down the avenue of waiting for a green light on months on end on a loan move after what happened in January when we got our fingers burnt.
Article taken from the Star , does state that McBurnie was at the Well and his Twitter page confirms that he's now flown off on International duty. If you've seen any clips of him in action , it's noticeable that he plays with his socks rolled down. Let's hope that after all the effort Hecky has expended to get him, if he does play for Scotlands U 21's he doesn't pick up an injury.! http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foot...s-look-to-sign-swansea-city-striker-1-8729424
Nixons article confirms he's opted to join us instead of Leeds. Reason he plays with his socks down apparently goes back to when he was on loan from Bradford City at Chester. The Club were short of cash and the socks they gave him had no elastic in them and kept falling down. He went on a bit of a scoring run which eventually earned him a move to Swansea and so being superstitious he's played with his socks rolled down ever since. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/4345251/swansea-city-transfer-news-oli-mcburnie-barnsley/
