ssn being saying managerial/manager for past few days but now its headcoach. i would imagine that struber has been having the secret speaks with schmidt and radlinger about the situation behind the scenes so comes in with his eyes fairly well open and knowing what to expect. personally i would give him a 3.5 year contract, i.e staying up this season is a bonus, ( i think we will) but next season and the season after are the ones to watch, his tactics, his squad. goodluck gerhard, may the force be with you
As a relatively happy clapper normally, I am disappointed if this is true. No experience at any meaningful level No achievements of any sort Mostly worked at u15 or u19 level No glare of any spotlight on him where he is No pressure to endure week after week and expectations he's never been exposed to Reminds me of Morais, who found himself painfully out of his depth in the 4th toughest league in Europe Yes you'll say give him a chance, and I will as I do with all new managers or head coaches, but the phrase constantly circulating my mind is: Completely underwhelmed, very disappointed, more certainly hardens the opinion of the owners making a quick buck by appointing someone who is here to help develop youth to sell on later 007–2008 Red Bull Salzburg U19 (assistant) 2009–2010 Red Bull Salzburg U19 2012–2014 SV Kuchl 2014–2015 Red Bull Salzburg U15 2015–2017 Red Bull Salzburg (assistant) 2017–2019 FC Liefering 2019–2019 Wolfsberger AC I really hope I am 100 % wrong
Your absolutely right he knows what kind of turkeys are running the club so he's either very thick or very confident in his own ability hopefully the latter
When you look at the record of Liefering under him it’s not too heartening either. (Lighter red line)
Or very happy with the clause in his contract which states how much compensation he will get when dismissed.
- Been managing in the Europa league this season (got credible results against then top of the league Gladbach and Roma) - Who are we realistically going to get in that have achievements of note? - Working with youth groups is how most coaches start off to cut their teeth. - I'm sure he's had the spotlight on him because of the performances in the Europa and from local press (you're just assuming he hasn't) - Again you're just assuming there was no pressure. Why would their be pressure in this job now? We are already cut adrift from the rest of the pack and expectations for this season now have bottomed out, hardly anyone expects us to survive so. Only pressure would be the start of next season when the same pressure on him will be what was on Stendel last season and he thrived off it. Who are we realistically going to get in as opposed to this?
I think it's more than just head coach.. Austria is obviously one of our target markets for players. His knowledge and contacts over there will be used to the maximum.
Would it be too much to hope for that we get some words from Conway today? 1. A dispute arose with Daniel Stendel which meant we had to part company. Can't say more as legal dispute still in progress. 2. Welcoming appointment of Gerhard Struber. 3. Setting out the club's view of results so far following summer alterations to squad. 4. Whether modifications will be made to improve situation, or alternatively that they still believe this is the right way to go and an update of what they see the timeframe as for stability to be achieved/further progress to be made. Not unreasonable, surely?
I can see some of your points wombwell-red, but please see below link for full picture https://www.transfermarkt.com/gerhard-struber/profil/trainer/5801 He's only had 21 games at anything approaching a required standard, my point about the pressure is that of what will be expected at Barnsley versus what he's been exposed to before, in charge of youth development teams where promotion wasn't even allowed! I think there's a huge gulf there, and a 4 nil loss to Bayern being hailed as a success doesn't fill me with hope. I'm looking at the intent of the board here as it seems to me that Murray, Stern, Disco etc have more potential than this chap so I don't see why we are appointing him? Anyhow good luck to him, I just don't get the board's motivations here as we'll lose 6 million income when relegated, why not spend bigger on a more experienced manager?
Haha badgey. I'd rather hear the broken English of our soon-to-be Head Coach than the silent English of our MIA owners.
