I know you haven't replied to me but you've replied to the thread in general and it was me who talked about a mass exodus Again, nothing negative in having that discussion about any form of exodus. We're only having it because the players are doing so well. Long may that continue and long may we hold on to as many as possible for as long as possible.
It's interesting. I'd say more could step up under Ismael than another manager due to the effectiveness of the system. I've nothing against Mowatt, I just think we would need someone with more pace and athleticism in the league above.
He's been great the last three seasons but it isn't a one man show. The club didn't cash in to gain promotion. The contract was on the table when merely avoiding relegation was the target. We kept him to preserve our status. That makes Mowatt replaceble for me if the target changes in the coming season. Nudger mentioned it in one of his better posts. It's about signing players that can cut it in the Premier League whilst you're in the Championship. There needs to be more to it than excellent tactics and utilisation of what he's got by a decent head coach. Reason being if you lose Val those players aren't the same players. That said recruitment's been good.
Agree with that, many wrote him off last season and when we were promoted saying he doesn't have the pace to be a top championship player although I watched a 36 year old Scott Parker at oakwell in 2016 hardly break sweat and boss the game from center midfield so I never bought into that theory. I'm convinced herbie kane was signed as mowatts replacement back in the summer so I wouldn't be suprised at all to see him leave regardless of division.
