Re: Daft as it Sounds.... It is , I live in Wakefield, but my kids still live in Barnsley. We were at Mumbai Lounge in the middle of January, my sons birthday, it was throwing down plenty of snow that night , but it was worth the effort getting there, great food and the staff are great.
Re: Daft as it Sounds.... Being over charged rings a bell too now after reading other stories, seems quite common! Do them two twin brothers still work there? Used to go to that one near wakey asda a lot, **** setting but food was very nice. Liked thaal but thought portions were too small and it was expensive.
Re: Daft as it Sounds.... Seriously considering going somewhere else now having read a lot of common themed negative comments. Might check out Mumbai Lounge instead.
Re: Right 'Ere We Go..... I know you get a lot of stick on here and I don't want to be accused of adding to it, but this post is amazing.
Re: Daft as it Sounds.... Value for money, Mumbia Lounge is hard to beat. provided you start to eat before 9, and pay cash, you pay £9.95 for any starter, any main (except prawn i think), either rice or nan, small bowl of ice cream, and a coffee, and a pretend baileys liquor. Thaal is a bit more upmarket, but about 50-70% dearer. Jaffran at Wombwell do a deal similar to Mumbia Lounge but i think it id only wednesday and thursday, whereas Mumbai lounge is any day of week.
Re: Daft as it Sounds.... Try the one in Penistone across from the White Heart. Cant recomend it highly enough - amazing snap, good atmosphere and great price.- Taste of India it is called. I aim to go once a month, its well worth the 20 minute drive. A good pint across the road too.
Re: Right 'Ere We Go..... I know I typed "Eggs" wrongly, but despite that I'm afraid I have no idea what your question means.
Thanks for all your feedback guys.Done a bit of research (which i should have done initially) and read a number of online reviews from both the Dil Raj and other Indian restaurants in the area and going to give the Mumbai Lounge a visit.
Do you pay beforehand for the groupon vouchers? Hope the Mumbai lounge is good, after reading on here I'm never going to go to Dil Raj.
Been to the Dil Raj tonight Two of us, starter each, 2 main courses and a shared rice. Couple of pints and a glass of wine each. Got the bill, £545.73. Obviously we questioned it and they reduced it to £275.26. We gave them a round £300 including a tip, which was well deserved as they served us within 3 hours of arriving. Thoroughly recommended.
Re: Right 'Ere We Go..... He does not like eggs and he cannot understand why any person could possibly eat them. He feels the same about cheese too ! Hope that helps .
Re: Been to the Dil Raj tonight In 1ps,2ps and 5ps i hope. 3 hours to serve it. 3 hours to count it. sounds fare.
Update Went to the Royal Spice at Darton last week for first time, as recommended by several on here, just to try it. Food absolutely superb and almost half the price of the Dil Raj. Difficult to compare service as it was midweek and hardly anyone there. Would thoroughly recommend it. One of my favourite dishes (Tandoori King Prawn) is £12.95 at Dil Raj and £7.95 in the Royal. Nuff said.
Re: Update massive fan of Royal Spice too. Been to Dil Raj once and the final bill included items we'd not ordered. Never been back since.
Re: Update If you got a iPhone or android, download Beevouchers app. There's a voucher on there that gives you buy one main get one free for takeaways at Royal Spice (Mon-Thursday). It's reusable too, valid till 16 August 2013. Used it on Wednesday no problem.
