.... 'kin awful. Went there with high expectations because I've heard nowt but good things about it but it was very poor. Booked for eight but didn't get sat down until an hour after, all the staff were rude and miserable, took 25 minutes (!) to get some drinks, then I had to go and get the ******* me sen cos they'd been left on the bar, food was very average and not hot, and they'd not microwaved our lasses samosa's enough because they were cold in the middle. All in all, *****. Give me Aagrah any day....
What day was it mate? I've been loads of times mainly mid-week and service is usually good (with a few exceptions) At weekends tho, particularly Sat, they can get overloaded - no excuse they should sort it. Never had a problem with food though The place is usually packed if were that bad it would be empty
RE: What day was it mate? Last night mate. To be fair it was very busy but like you said they should expect that and sort it out. Know what you're saying about reputation but we probably won't go back. It was just disappointing really. Best thing about it was the Kingfisher pint pot which accidently fell into our lasses bag...
Agreed As I said they should be prepared for it being busy and sort the staff out It's about 100 yards from my place so we always go there to avoid driving etc. We have had a few bad experiences but because we go so often they are always in the minority. Also I think because they know us they probably woudn't forget to bring our drinks etc like they did with you. I'll be in on Monday night I'll ask them if they are missing a pint pot
Aagrah best I ever been to! Though Akbaas (or however it is spelt) was very nice and very good service there too. I was impressed.
Restaurants After living off company expenses for two years I can tell you that hardly any restaurants are consistent in their service and food. You can have great service and excellent food one day and a few days later, different waiting staff, appalling food, terrible. It makes recommending anywhere a brave thing to do. It's a great way to lose friends! Of course there are the exceptional restaurants that offer guaranteed quality and of course, those that excel offering a terrible experience time after time.
RE: Aagrah best I ever been to! Aagrah is pretty good but I used to go to one in Bradford years ago, called the Kashmir (i think it was), next door to a chapel of rest. Really basic tables and decor etc, but the food was fantastic.
I remember the Kashmir It was done out more like a truckers' café than an Indian restaurant. And the food was not only very good, it was virtually being given away - main courses were around the £2.50 mark, albeit about 10 years ago. Then it got some coverage on a BBC food programme and the popularity rocketed, quickly followed by the prices. Still there last I heard though I haven't been in years.
Curry Mahal was a regular haunt For me and the lads from the cricket club, we were in there most Sunday nights in summer. Then one Friday night about 6 years ago we booked a party of 25, 2 weeks in advance - when we got there, no table, restaurant full etc We all went round the corner to the Dil Raj - got sat down straight away - they looked after us and we've being going there ever since - between us spent thousands this summer in there. God knows what we've spent in the last 6 years. Not saying it is better, just that one bad experience can put you off for years.
RE: I remember the Kashmir Aye, thats the place. Early 90's when I used to go. Still best Indian I have ever had.
if its same place that I'm thinking of waiters in white doctors coats, formica tables, fluorescent lighting, dish and a spoon only (no knives & forks), food dirt cheap but spot on.
There's dozens of 'em like that in Bradford Kashmir was OK but there were plenty more just as good and just as cheap.
While I'm on restaurants... ...best place I've ever been to - White Horse & Griffin in Whitby. If I could eat there every day I'd be large. Highly recommended.
