I think that's what a lot of people are trying to explain to you.

There are ups and downs supporting any club. Especially one from a town like ours. We will sometimes punch above our weight, and sometimes we will have poor spells. And I'm not talking a few games. I'm talking decades.

What it means to support Barnsley is to support every man who pulls on that shirt, come what may. As long as they put the effort in you cheer them.

This is not a simulated management game. Unfortunately there are people's livelihoods at stake if you are not financially savvy. We've seen that before. Perhaps before your time. A lot of people lost their jobs. And a lot more very nearly did when the club almost folded.

And please please don't try and throw around statements suggesting you are a better supporter than blokes that have stood on those terraces through teams and decades so barren you could only dream of having a Conor Hourihane or a Sam Winnall to cheer, never mind two trips to Wembley. A lot of people would, I'm sure, love to dedicate whole weekends to the Reds. But they have children, mortgages, wives. Although since I've grown up I've realised there are many things far more important than Barnsley FC. So on the occasions I do go to watch them I cherish it even more. And it makes the last 7 months all the more remarkable.

Manure?? He'll be even worse on their forum.

Mata and Ibrahimovic will be straight on his "list"

Yeah but the old players are keeping them out so it'll not go down well with Hemsie

    Serious question Hemmsy...

Seeing as your main opinions on any sport are biased by the experts from Sky ....

what do you think of their choice of Championship player of the month for August 2016 ?

    How ***** are they ;)

    Fair enough.

However, I don't think you're giving nearly enough credit to some of our players and the manager. We're 4th in the Championship after just winning promotion and a trophy. It's an amazing achievement and we have a superb team. The majority of us cannot understand why you criticise so, much of it being completely unjustifiable.

Crikey some of this has become a little bit personal. Why mention somebody's financial or lifestyle situation in a public forum. Little bit low that. Just enjoy the fact we are where we are and the future we have, and ignore people that get on your nerves.

Is t it a perfectly reasonable response to somebody who is claiming to be a better fan than someone else because he attends more games?

Person one: I'm a better fan than you. Im going all the way to Brighton, you aren't.

Person two: because unlike you i've got a job that dictates I can't just go round the country at the drop of a hat and I have a mortgage and actually buy my own tickets meaning I can't just go to every game without worrying about the financial implications.

Which of the two people in that conversation is out of order?

I put about Brighton because yet again people question ME.

    I don't care.

There isn't many more ways to say I care than another massive trip to see the Reds play. After Saturday I would have done 1000 plus miles away. One competative match missed so far. Honestly well done to anyone that's been to them all. I love to listen to people that have done that. Talked to a friend on Saturday and we mentioned Leeds. I'll be going to leeds too and I have every intention of going to brentford on the 22? October.

I have zero intention of paying £37 to go to a second division match.

But you fail to see that nobody at all has ever questioned your willingness or availability to travel the length and breadth of the country or your financial position that allows you to attend these games without worry. Nobody in this thread questioned that they DID however question your SUPPORT of the team. They are two very different things don't you see that?

I'm not going to criticise your support because I think you are a supporter, I'm just trying to highlight to you that there is a difference between the two things

To be fair to hemsy he isn't the first Barnsley fan to have failed to realise that they are in a fortunate position which allows them to do what he does. There have been plenty throughout the years. Tommy tyke was a prime example, he was a retired banker who was well off with all the time and money in the world to support Barnsley but he was often on here giving it the better fan treatment (in a more subtle way). People seemed to accept it when it was him though for some reason
