Does anyone know where you can actually get tested in Barnsley to see if you’ve got COVID-19?

They've admitted that the published daily figures aren't a true representation of those infected. If their 10,000 guesstimate is true, there could already be 40 or 50 in Barnsley.

 

Of course you are right. I didn't attempt to try the system by doing a 'dummy run' My apologies if i inadvertently caused any alarm.

 

No problems in the airport but I only passed through. Entry to Mauritius was just a self certification form and temperature check. It looked like Dubai would be the same, seemed like business as usual in the airport.

My wife has had a cough for over a week along with the little one. It's got slightly worse, but not significantly so. He she has asthma and has previously had steroids and antibiotics when she gets one. She decided to ring the surgery and told them it was an existing cough, no other symptoms. Surgery said to phone 111, so she did. They said "self isolate and phone your GP". She rang the GP back and asked for a phone appointment, which they said she could have before ringing back 20 mins later and saying they won't treat her and she should call back 111. She called twice and wad cut off twice after holding for 10 minutes each time.

She eventually got through and 111 have just sent a referral to the GP surgery for her to be seen. Just waiting for the nursing practitioner to get back from a home visit so an appointment can be made for today.

Oh, and the second 111 operator apologised and said her colleague should not have told her to self isolate as it was an existing cough, not a new one. Queue for 111 was 50 people BTW.

I've no idea why the surgery refused to see her in the first place given it was an existing cough.

 

I suffer from high blood pressure and one of the side effects is risk of respiratory infections due to the nasal drip. I have had Bronchitis and chronic cough since taking the medication.

 

If you have symptoms you should self isolate. You will only be tested if those symptoms become debilitating or you begin to have breathing difficulties. Makes sense as most people will get over this without medical intervention, and we need to keep hospitals and test centres running for those who are at risk.

 

Slightly unfair....my wife is a GP and they are receiving express instructions from the NHS to deal with it in this way. Probably makes sense...we may need possibly need their expertise very soon and they won’t be much good infected, infecting the elderly and infirm. They are being asked to be very flexible at the detriment of themselves and their families for the good of the country.

It is all been planned and dealt with really well.
