...released on 'Mother-in-law records'. One of my mates up here in Glasgow was asking if I could recite the lyrics and I'd never heard of it. Anyone else? http://www.vinyltap.co.uk/shop/item/659218204292371.aspx
I had it on 12" single. It's probably still in the loft - where it deserves to be! Came out early 80's, definitely no later than '83.
I presume it was a piss take? My mate's challenged me to find a copy... ...of the lyrics and if possible a tape of the song. Seems it was recorded in Grimey, so I'm guessing it was a crack at self-deprecation?
barnsley bill was graham fellows who recorded as jilted john and now performs as the character john shuttleworth. i only remember the line "i'm barnsley bill and i just don't care, i could rap you out of your underwear".
I dont think so... But interestingly enough Graham (aka shuttleworth) once won a talent comp at the civic. http://www.discogs.com/release/1185274
