This is outstanding. People just jumping from one reason to the next, to attack the Club. People who have openly said they don’t go to games anymore. You don’t support the Club, financially or otherwise. You don’t seem to take any joy from Barnsley Football Club whatsoever. Surely there are other things you can spend your time doing? Something you actually take joy from? Or is it actually the constant, never ending, unabating criticism from afar, that gives you joy?

We probably don't want to pay out more money that could be used on transfers etc, but more importantly they'll want someone who can tow the line, I wanted wellens but some managers aren't prepared to work under how we operate

One has shown he has experience of guiding a Club into the League One Playoffs (well, all being well).

One is excited and seemingly bragging about flying to Manchester Airport.

My initial post was tongue in cheek, but after all the "Anyone But Collins" bilge I've had to read over the past 3 weeks specifically, I hope you get behind the new chap. Its what you all wanted after all.

I'm not interested in any manager with less than a 45% management win percentage. Serial winner please.

Again I’m not sure there were many people saying ‘anyone but Collins’. I mean Liz Truss would definitely be worse than Collins as would Zebedee and If Sooty didn’t bring Sweep then again he can’t manage on his own so would be worse.

Daft decisive better fan posts like yours help no one.

The Board decided bottom of the form table with no improvement in saleable assets a terrible playing style and a down tick in ticket sales wasn’t something they could live with. Nothing to do with any fan on here or in the wider world expressing a preference. So no fan ‘got what they wanted’ the board took a decision. If their next decision is crap then undoubtedly people will point this out. People can hold more than one opinion bout more than one topic / individual. I know in this binary culture wars environment it’s not fashionable but it’s certainly possible.

Experience is good if it comes off. Plenty have had it and failed. Most of the guys who got us promoted. In my time never managed b4.
    Steele
    Clarke
    Hunter
    Danny
    Hecky

Richie. Oldham prior to us after 4yrs in the backroom at leeds in between. So the only one to have managed a British league club afore us and gained us promotion.

    Stendl First british club.

Plenty of failures and near misses from the others at either end of the table. It's a lottery. to be fair. A couple failed second time around.
I only hope whoever it is, gets support. And doesnt do social media afore they even start.

I doubt that this will be a selection made by the full Board, more likely a recommendation of the Sporting Director. Yes, it will have needed to go to the Board to ratify it but it's highly unlikely that they'd turn down the Sporting Director's recommendation having just employed him and this being his first real item of importance to deal with. (If any of this has a grain of truth to it, that is). I remain worried about us getting in a Sporting Director from the company that sold us Obbi Oulare.

Personally, I'd prefer a more 'Duff-esque' appointment than Thalhammer. I don't get the thing about 'we're skint so can't afford anybody with an EFL track record' as (a) that's what we did with Duff, (b) surely the best way to be less skint in future is to appoint the person most likely to succeed, and (c) we can't be that badly off if we can afford to be spending what must be the thick end of £800k a year on Flatman, Mladen, Zuk etc.

My feelings exactly, Marc! If you don’t go to games or you don’t get any joy from the club or you just like to attack the club/owners/ players/ coach, find a more appropriate hobby - otherwise you just drag others down!

But we don't help ourselves do we, we turned Khalid's one job in 3 jobs .. have a first team squad of 40 plus, more backroom staff than works at Tesco's and introduce a Ladies team.

Whoever gets the job he will only have success if the recruitment team gets their finger out and start recruiting better players

I was using the Royal You, rather than you personally when I referred to that. I just happened to quote your post as you'd quoted mine.

Fans have been swearing at Collins. Chanting obscenities at him. Of course they've got what they wanted. Like I said, I hope they give the new gaffer their support - whoever it may be.

Hopefully the new man can lead us to 5th in the league before he's sacked this time next year.

Problem is, they’ve to offload a lot of deadwood first. We can’t continue to carry the numbers that we do now, especially if some of the academy lads need to be given a chance. Agree though, players we do recruit need to be to based on what we need as a squad. No spreadsheet signings to develop for the future like the glut of right wing backs we got in last summer.

Are you suggesting that those idiots doing this have been contacted by the club and asked who they wanted to replace Collins and they’ve come up with this chap? Huge if true.

Not so sure it's that many full time pro's, but I get your point. We are way over subscribed on the Striker front. I'm more concerned about the academy set up and sports science stuff. Unless some are part time. It seems a hell of a lot.
As for Khalid doing 3 jobs of 1. He had a PA. So I reckon a more knowledgeable role was required. And another installed more for the admin side.
After the FA cup debacle. Hopefully nothing is missed going forward.
