Allow me to unnecessarily and erroneously stoke this fire by saying there is a pic of him in an airport three days ago on his social media. Which of course means chuff all.
Certainly matches the foreign gamble route that Alan Nixon keeps suggesting. Not sure it’s what we should be doing. But like Moore and Pinillos I hope anyone we sign can hit the ground running and steer us clear of L1. Then reassess in summer. This is the first time I actually hope we get some loans in - seems the only way we would get the players with English championship or higher experience. We need someone in the centre and someone up front who can consistently perform at this level, without needing weeks or months to get “up to speed”. So far doesn’t look like the new regime are giving Hecky what he wants or has asked for. Still a week left though. A few “plug and play” signings, alongside these lower league/foreign gambles, and reckon we should be ok. Hard to get excited about much after yesterday’s news mind.
Nixon is way off in my experience. The thing about the Australian the other day wasn’t even close. Pinillos was almost wrapped up when he put that.
Fair enough. I’m not a massive fan of Nixon as I’ve said many times. And I really hope he’s wrong here and we aren’t putting all our eggs in the overseas basket. Going to be hard enough for Hecky getting new signings to gel, let alone if they have zero experience of this league.
He’s right about us going in the overseas market but Hecky has told us that many times. He obviously has some contacts but somethings aren’t even close.
It would worry me if club employees were leaking information to a Sun journalist. Any journalist would be bad enough, but the scum would be something else. I get the impression Hecky isn’t exactly over the moon with the foreign recruitment policy. January window in particular is not the time to take punts. Ah well, let’s wait and see. Sure it will be ok. New boys don’t seem to be fools so got to trust their vision.
Sounds promising certainly. Let’s hope he can hit the ground running. We certainly need a winger or two. If we blend it with just one or two “known” quantities we should be absolutely fine. I like the look of Thiam - but we won’t see the best of him until next year as he’s getting up to speed with England. I hope this bloke can have a quicker impact as I doubt they’d hang around long in L1 if we did go down.
Seem to recall that hecky said that any signings in this window need to be ready to go straight into the starting eleven. Unknown foreign signings seem to me like a risky gamble we can't afford to get wrong.
In the long run it may work out using the European market. Can't see many hitting the ground running though to be honest & that's what we need right now. Disappointed we didn't try to sign Lee Evans from Wolves who signed for the Blunts last week. Been excellent for Wigan this season apparently, a bit like Morsy......
Can see your point but Cavare has slotted straight in once fit. Hopefully this new lad can have a similar impact.
I suppose the thing with the 2 players we've signed already is that Moore has scored regularly this season (albeit at a league below) and Pillinos has got some championship experience, and La Liga too, so they "should" in theory hit the ground running as you say. I suppose being in the January window, if we sign players now who have been playing regularly, they should be at least match sharp.
