Eric Cantona's speech after being presented with an award at the Uefa draw tonight - "Soon science will not only be able to slow down the ageing of cells, it will fix cells and so we will become eternal. Only accidents, crimes, wars will kill us but unfortunately crimes and wars will multiply. I love football. Thank you." Mad as a box of frogs that one
Jeez imagine what will happen to planet earth if folk stop dying - already getting a bit overcrowded - good excuse for governments to up the pension age even higher i guess.
In other words - he hates getting old because he loved playing football so much - and wished he had been born at a later time where ageing could be prevented.
If ageing is no longer going to be a "thing" - does that mean we can scrap the Plan and sign players over the age of 25?
Many years ago when staying in Brittany I had a conversation with the gite owner about Cantona, his comment was " Un homme avec une tete plein des papillon". Best description of Cantona I've heard.
