One of my boyhood heroes. Please pass on my thanks to him for his great service to our club.

Nigel Spackman left us with about a hundred overpaid players, haemorrhaging money and with a side destined to go down.

He was woeful. Set the club back years.

But his worst crime, one I’ve just been made properly aware of, is that he had the gall to haunt Eric out of our club.

What an absolute bellend. Wonder if he tried to remove anyone else... Any idea what Rimmo thought of spackman? Can’t imagine he was massively complimentary.

Spackman was the worst manager we've had since I started watching in '74/75.

Eric Winstanley was a key to our most successful period & it's about time that was remembered.

Really good to hear he is OK.

Never had the pleasure of seeing the great man play, but like Rimmo, Winnie should
be revered and go down as an all time great servant to Barnsley Football Club.
He did a Sterling job during the times he was part of the coaching staff and as the
Caretaker managing the team when one manager left before another came in.
Thank you big man. I hope you're around for many years to come, watching the Reds.

Good that he still gets to most games don’t see why we should be the only ones to suffer. Glad to hear he is doing ok

Saw him make his debut in London in 1962. Looked the job then, and unfortunately suffered a serious knee injury a couple of years later and was out for over a year. I think if he had not been injured he would have gone on to play at a higher level.

    John Peachey? Surely?

Steve Cooper & Futch on that list, when I'm being serious.

Add to that Johnny Kelly, Danny Blanchflower George Robledo . The list goes on and they were truly legends for us in every sense of the word but legend status isnt just for the greats imo . The likes of Barry Murphy, Johnny Steele Norman Rimmington etc etc . Not great players but truly legends
