I was going to post similar. Brexit party wins, but when you add it all up they’ve got about 30% of the vote. It’s all a bit mental. The vote is about 30% of the electorate. The mad thing Is people have voted to elect a bunch of morons who will now make the EU slower, which defeats the object. It’s turkeys voting for Xmas.
Anti brexit parties and those in favour of a second referendum took a higher percentage of the vote than the brexit party. A party with one single issue as it's platform failed to take a third of the people who actually voted.
The big story here shouldnt be leave/not leave voters it should be how people didn’t vote for the major parties
The turnout was just under 37% of the electorate. Big for a European election, but very poor against, for example, the Referendum. After all the hype, I thought it might be much bigger.
Sunderland only lost 2-1 but were 2nd in the league for much of the season and finished 3rd above charlton. They then lost in the Playoff final. Maybe they should go up instead of charlton anyway... Remainers - not accepting defeat again! Democracy doesn’t sit nice with you lot does it...
'Sunderland only lost 2-1 but were 2nd in the league for much of the season and finished 3rd above charlton' Erm Sunderland finished 5th, Charlton finished 3rd.
Can’t see anything different in the results tbh. Just a real farce, Disenc Laura Kuenssberg will be all over that !
So, given that it's three years since the vote, the original vote was close, the ensuing years have yielded nothing but chaos in trying to find an exit strategy that has sufficient support you don't feel it would be democratic to re test opinions? The euro elections were a fantastic chance for leavers to stamp their authority on their original decision. They has a single issue party to vote for. It signally failed to gain a majority of the vote. The wind has changed and the leavers are desperately clinging to their original, badly informed, anti Europe, self harming spasm of 2016.
Have you seen the results? Then why didn’t the remainers “stamp” their authority? Oh, they didn’t... the wind of change is still people chucking in spanner’s to slow down and convolute the process.
If someone had just started a Remain Party a couple of months back and put up the candidates, the numbers prove they would have pissed it. You don't need any actual policies - Farage has proved that - or any plan for how you're going to achieve your one, solitary aim.
The Brexit party didn't even publish a manifesto. They are a single issue party. They are the blindingly obvious vote for any dedicated leaver. They got 30% of the vote and remain parties outnumbered them. And that's without the results from Scotland. The results are a huge slap in the face for the leavers.
Just a quick question for all the "billions" of remainers that this board seems to have. If another referendum is called and the vote and outcome is roughly the same as the first one, will we have to have yet another one and make it a best 3 out of 5? If its role reversal and remain receive 52% of the vote can leavers argue that basic mathematics is wrong and that doesn't equal a victory and demand yet another referendum?
