To my mind when you've given the world the artists I've already mentioned plus The Stones, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, The Police, The Smiths etc I don't think we should put too much importance on Eurovision. Not sure it has all that much to do with Brexit. There is still a strong anti-EU movement in many countries such as Spain, Italy and Greece.
I read it costs BBC 300k a year to host it. I think for three nights (with two semi finals) it's great value for them. Especially as it had over eight million tune is as the biggest show of the night, with more viewers than BGT and the FA Cup final. I think we purposely pick a rubbish song so we don't have to host it. We use people who don't have a following even in the UK, let alone abroad that will care enough to vote for them and give them a bland song. Now if we got one of our three biggest worldwide selling solo acts (Adele, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith) to perform and did rubbish then people using politics as to why people don't vote for us would have a point. With the correct act we would win it again.
Put simply its discrimination. You could put anyone forward and we’d get fk all votes no matter how good they were. Been the same for years. Like the common market its morphed from a well meaning european initiative into a points scoring load of ******** where we always lose out.
