Good, honest interview. Did I also see him applauding during the lights/song for Cryne? If so, a touch of class that.
Not sure why there is a lot of vitriol aimed at him. One of the best post match interviews I've seen from opposition managers for a while, No excuses, no 'bigging up' his team, complaining about decisions or running down the home side. I was surprised, based on what I saw, that they are so low in the league. In patches they matched us and against, dare I say it,' lesser opposition' i.e. no Pinnock or Williams (or Brown for that matter), they might well have got a couple of goals. Looked better than their position and he was right that they should ignore the result and take something positive from their performance today.
Yes, saw him join in. I've no real affection for him but I think the job he does at Rochdale is first class and probably undervalued.
Respect for the man. He did join in with the applause for the Cryne tribute which is very commendable of him. It went very sour for him towards the end of his tenure here and I guess it would be easy for him to be bitter about the whole thing but his comments before and after today’s game have changed my opinion of him somewhat . Also there is no doubt whatsoever that he tries to get his teams to play good passing football.... so let by Bygones be bygones and I genuinely hope he can keep Rochdale up again .
Nor did I. Unlike many on here I rated him. The side he created with vas te, drinkwater and Butterfield was exceptional. It's a pity it didn't work out because I think he came to us believing he could take On to greater things. Hey ho..........life moves in and I wouldn't change Daniel for anyone else at the moment. We have a great boss and long may his reign continue.
With the passage of time I feel maybe I was too harsh on him when he was here. He never seemed to come across well in interviews. Maybe he's changed maybe I have but that was a very honest assessment. I thought some of Rochdales football was excellent and on the budget they have that's credit to him.
Good luck to Keef & Rochdale for the rest of the season - they had a game plan that was working for most of the match. We were below par but managed the win
