Sorry fella I so do not wanna fall out with you at all , but I am just wondering what the new lot want, some kinda theme park or a succseful football team. The folk of Barnsley want the team thing first. They want the bragging rights over all our local rivals. IMHO get the team firing and the rest will fall into place. Watch this... this Barnsley all over
Why can't two things be done at once? A decorator isn't picking the team, scoreboard supplier isn't playing left wing and matchday announcer doesn't double as goalkeeper.
Why does it have to be one or the other? The issues discussed such as the scoreboard, improving the pre/during/post refreshments, HT entertainment and the singing section are things that can easily occur irrespective of what’s going on with regards to our on field results. The departments that deal with the aforementioned have nothing to do with how we perform on the pitch.
Agreed, but there does not seem to be any statement of intent as to investment in the playing squad at all.... they HAVE said they will not spend crazy money... so how do you read that. Re-wiring/cabling the IT stuff is pennies to them... they are from China the biggest Electronic/IT people ever... that's gonna not even be pocket change.. No sorry for me we need to see some seriously real investment in players
DT, we were prolific in January. What more did you seriously want? The only issue for me is a lack of goalkeeper but aside from that we recruited heavily and recruited well.
so if we drop like a stone into the National league will you still go there every game for the "MATCHDAY EXPERIENCE" at least you will get served quick at the beer tent.
I look at it this way, there's times when I've got stuff on and I want to rattle up at 2.50pm and bugger off straight after the final whistle. There are other times when I've got a bit of cash and time to spare and want to make a day of it. Maybe a few drinks, entertainment, a snack or even a meal. It would be nice to have an opportunity to do that at oakwell, as and when I feel like it.
No, I’ll go every week because it’s my team. The matchday experience is an added bonus. I’m not at all bothered by a beer tent. I sit in the West Stand and it doesn’t serve beer at all. It would make sense to improve the scoreboard and the refreshment area though as both are calamitous at times. As I’ve said above, this isn’t a case of improving off the field whilst stifling on field progression or vice versa, we can and should be looking to do both.
It is actually as under JM we are effectively 4 points clear, look a threat in front of goal and have survival in our own hands.
The bar at the bottom of stair 4 ESL was shut for the first time on Tuesday since it opened (at start of season) . I'd just about got used to it - and dropped "ale watch" because of it. Is that what "worked better"? Perhaps I missed the mobile beer bar.
they mention improvements to west stand...........make it a safe standing area advertised as a singing section.......the loudest fans in the premier league are crystal palace at the minute......a unfashionable club like ourselves.....just a example and thought
Athersley Reds are also reporting from the meeting. - bringing West Stand up to scratch but no new stand - new videoboard - pre-season game with Nice in the pipeline - offices moving to the east stand - permanent sports bar being looked at
I used to be In Army based in Germany and I used to get to at least 10 home games a season at a cost £300-£400 per game and its when we were in league 1 between 2003-2006. Living 250 miles away isn’t an excuse for not going
Tbh with ya this is my first ever time on this forum but it’s easy to spot what the problem is towards him. He rarely goes but seems to have strong opinions on how we play/ played and what needs to be changed. If you very rarely attend then you can’t and don’t really have the right to voice any opinion. Also he’s commenting on the things that would entice him to the ground and make the experience better when clearly the only thing that would work is him living closer
