Questions need to be asked of Hecky too though: what on earth did Ugbo and Gardner do on Saturday to warrant a start tonight? They've both been hauled off at half time. How could Moncur have possibly gained another start after that performance on Saturday? We've used up three subs so Hedges won't get a look in yet he's the only player in the last three games to cause the opposition any sort of problems. I like Hecky a lot, but ******* hell, it's just not right. And it's miles off being right. You can't continue to pick players who either won't try, are completely ineffectual, or, like Potts, cannot play the position they're being asked to. It's self defeating.

Let's hope the subs make a difference, but we had no chance with the team we started with.

You're right mate. Its a bit bonkers if you ask me. McCarthy was one of our better performers as well, and now can't get a game.

McGeehan looks far better than Gardner, and at least Hedges is a winger.

Ok 4.3m thats in transfers alone. Add on Cavare, Fryers, Isgrove and the Loanees Barnes, Ugbo Williams and Gardner I bet theres not much change out of the 6m I said.

I said it on Saturday and I will say it again, playing Moncur is like having 10 men on the pitch: he might, and I emphasise might, make a decent pass or score a good goal, but for the majority of a game he is completely redundant and a burden on the team.

He might have been poor but he is still better than Gardner
Im still coming to grips with playing Potts right wing. At least at half time Hecky improved things by moving Yiadom up - going 3 at the back and putting Bradshaw and Thiam on - we even looked like we might score.
Depressing thing is Reading were really poor and still beat us 3-0 - what does that say about us

Said this all season but we have no central midfielder that is either creative OR going to put his foot in apart from Williams. The rest are pedestrians at best and I'd be gobsmacked if we don't go down

That was how it looked to me
No idea what we were first half looked a bit like 4-2-2-1-1 but I think it was supposed to be 4-1-4-1

I can't think of a positive footballing question that Gardner, Potts or Moncur individually could possibly be the answer to, so Christ only knows what conundrum the whole bloomin' three of 'em together could be designed to solve.

I will seriously feel physically sick if I see Moncur sauntering out again as part of the team at the Macron on Saturday. I never ever thought I'd ever see anyone who made Tom Kennedy look hard-working and committed but this kid is taking things to a whole new level.

I'm sure Potts is a nice lad and he tries but ability-wise he's just ****, end of.

And surely we have someone of our own who like Gardner can stand on the spot and do nothing for 45 minutes (looking tidy!), without having to pay a loan fee for the privilege.

MacDonald has been found out without Robbo to protect him, head went down after their second goal. He's not a motivator, not a captain in a million years and is not able to organise the defence.

I've been a big and unwavering supporter of Davies but after the last three games, I realise I'm now only keeping in my team because of fear of the alternative, which shows how we have neglected that position. I saw a couple of the goals Townsend let in at Solihull and so it really does feel like we are stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea but even I would probably consider a change now.

And, as I've said elsewhere, Ugbo needs to go back to Chelsea under 12s asap and get over the trauma of encountering misters like McShane otherwise I think social services will need to be called. Next Tammy Abraham? He'll struggle to be the next Father Abraham!

Only real positive for me tonight was Thiam, injected a bit of go-forward into a marginally better second half against a poor Reading team shorn of the two players, Swift and McCleary, that usually perform best against us and never really forced out of second gear.

Defeat at Bolton would be pretty disastrous but, please, at least let it not be another unenjoyable surrender where we don't threaten nor even compete again.

PS - Was it just me or did anyone else only see heavy defeats for us on those BFC 'highlight' reels Reading were showing on the tellies under the away end stand?

Mallan in against Bolton? He had a slight knock last night otherwise he could have been in the squad.

He’s come from non-league, that’s what the issue is.

I’m sure if Hecky thought he was anything like then he’d be in and around the match day squad.

He's been playing against Dumbarton and Brechin. God knows how you go from that to playing in this league. Mind, I suppose if you don't try you don't learn.
