    Haha

How long will they sustain their business if greedy feckers like me can’t pile half hundred weight of roast spuds on my own plate?

    :)

Hopefully they don't lose the essence of Toby carvery. I mean imagine if they changed it so much that the meat had moisture, the gravy flavour, the vegetables could actually be identified instead of mush.... I mean what sort of heinous world would we be living in then?!?!?!?!

I think they have no choice at the moment - dont they have to use table service by law?
Hopefully by 21 June we can go back to normal as the whole point of a carvery is you go up and get it carved onto your plate and then load up with veg yourself. I guess Buffet style restaurants have the same issues

I went there once. And only once. Scarred me for life. What a weird experience that was.

Does anybody actually go to Toby Carvery? Surely everybody has a local pub that serves a Sunday roast of ten times better quality..

That's thing with buffet's and wotnot. You don't know whose had their fingers up their arses, nose etc. If you thought about it the trepidation would soon out weigh the novelty.

I used to go to the Dam Inn on a Sunday with the family back in the day.

Not a great fan of traditional food but my greedy brothers would pile their plates as high as they could and try not to spill any on the way back to the table whilst p*sing themselves laughing.

Looked like leaning tower of Pisa on their plates with taties and Yorkshires going everywhere. There were some very sniffy diners who clearly didn’t approve.

I used to go to Taybarn's regularly with Laura and Jackie. I found it cheap and cheerful. I loved their fish, chips and curry sauce and used to pile my plate up high. Apple pie and custard was nice too.

I went to the Toby Carvery just off J37 once in midweek with my mum who wanted to go. It was absolutely heaving. We've not been back since. Each to their own and all but it was just grim in so many respects.

We've cooked a sunday roast a few times since the pandemic, but there isn't anything like going out and having a really good one in a pub. We did have one delivered from Blacklock (as part of our anniversary treats weekend), which I'd recommend to anyone (think they do national delivery). One day... maybe.... hopefully.
