The Luke Steele comment makes much more sense now. He's at prime age for a goalkeeper and he shouldn't and wouldn't sign a deal to tie him down for numerous years on a poor wage.

I didn't understand all this rubbish that came out on here about a 3 year contract on those wages being more attractive than just a 1 year deal. "Here, take these poor wages for 3 years rather than 1". If he signs for 1 year then we might be in a better state financially to offer him higher wages next year, otherwise he can make a dream move to the prem or a top championship club. At least he's got a 1 year deal to fall back on and we're not tying him down to the club for several years when he wants to move.

The signing to be announced today was obviously Jennings. The signing to be announced tomorrow is likely to be O'Grady which leaves the signing on Friday that we've not heard about.

If Luke wants to leave, why should we jump through hoops to offer a good package when there's many players that would jump at the chance to play for Barnsley?

Keiths was a great night. Flickers have been too to be fair. Such an inspiring speaker!! But he was definitely more cagey about things last night. Didnt give too much away at all.

Just one thing to add - He insisted he would love it if Steele stayed and in no way is the club trying to force him out. Said Steele would be captain next season if he remains at the club....... Perkins or Dawson are natural successors should Steele move on though. Said his relationship with Steele was great and both sides understand where they stand........

Don said in his interview that we've not heard anything from either Higdon or Stead and those deal 'look to be dead in the water currently'.

That's good to hear, but why can't this be a public statement rather than a gentleman's lodge do or whatever it was.

Yes, thanks for that, I have just listened to the Don's interview on Audioboo and heard that those deals are dead!

What did Flicker have for his dinner?

I am thinking of getting a season ticket but will only get one if he had beef from slow-growing Highland cattle alongside Foie Gras from a Canadian goose raised at Cannon Hall.

Foie gras is vile. Anyone who buys it should be tied to a chair and force fed with a tube

I forgot to mention the dessert criteria. Within 28 minutes of finishing his meal, he must have purchased a spicy pear and balsamic vinegar ice cream (costing no more than 99p) from Delph House Farm.

Don't want a season ticket anyway. Unless of course, i get a signed copy of all Keith Hills rants, translated into German by Maurice.

Im mates with the CIA agent who reports all the car registration plates across the tannoy at Oakwell, and he said on twitter that Keith tried doing this to Bobby but he still wouldn't hand in a transfer request.

    Thanks for the update Brian.

I think the reasoning he's given you and the other diners is a lot more understandable. If he'd have said that to the Chronicle then we wouldn't have needed about 40 Luke Steele threads last week.

In 10 days time I'm sure we'll know one way or t'other regarding Luke and Bobby. And then we can move forwards.

Is the deadline for accepting or rejecting contract offers in 10 days? I can't remember.

The Don said they've got until next Sunday, so I'm guessing with the 10 days bit.

edit - by next Sunday I mean 30th.
