    Ah but Corbyn.
Poor Mavis dint get her grass cuttings collected for weeks. What do we pay our rates for.
Go Boris. he’ll look after Barnsley after the virus is over, He’s a man of the people.
We have the lowest contribution per person from central government. But that’s Barnsley councils fault didn’t you know.
Jumble lanes still shut. Flipping council.
Re public transport £5 per head pa from central government compared to £70 per head pa in London . “ yeah but the capital needs more busses, tubes etc cos they only run every 4/5 minutes.
In Barnsley If a donkey put up fot council or parliament it’d get in.

ffs it’s as I said in this god forsaken country some of the trodden on are like turkeys voting for Xmas. Cos The tories will look after em better than Corbyn and swallow austerity Again after covid cos all the wealthy buggers will pack up and leave the country. If it’s put on them. And then where will we be.

An interesting read. Sounds like Thurnscoe hasn't changed much since I was last there. Is The Ship Club still going? My dad made me a member when I was 18. Edit, just did a search and they've got a facebook page so it looks like it's still there.

Any ideas what the spend levels under 14 years of labour government were?

100 years of turning in labour MP's and Councils, I guess they were ploughing funds like no tomorrow under Blair and Brown to reward the loyalty?.

    Fact
Barnsley’s funding from central government in The last 10 yrs is 40% less than when labour lost power. One of the/if not the highest in the country. Make your own mind up, I don’t need to look at labours figures. I talk present not past.

What did you want them to do, vote in the Tories every other election so they'd get more national funding?

It would be interesting to see - get both parties trying to buy our votes with funding. Perhaps some real investment in the area - for example (and maybe a bad one) a guaranteed station on the HS2 so we actually benefit from it.

    Stuff like that.

Cos neither labour or the tories are putting much our way a the minute.

I reckon it's a better idea than doing the same thing we've done for the last 100 years and expecting a different result.

But then we wouldn't be able to blame the tories for everything would we - and how inconvenient would that be.

    Barnsley funding cut by 33%

Wokingham in Berkshire funding cut by 9%

Guess which one is a southern Tory run council?

I think there’s a slight disparity between the tories providing national funding and promising national funding.

Again - not picking a fight - looking to learn.

It would be interesting to see the facts about how we compared under the last labour govt. vs. now.

I tend to work with the whole picture rather than a snap shot and form conclusions based on a larger data set.

I would completely agree with you - how could I not- that under the tories, we've always done really badly.

But under our friends - the party we've been loyal to for 100 years. Do we do really well under them?, A bit better - or not really better at all. And how does that picture change when we compare ourselves to say tory areas.

I haven't got any figures but anecdotally having spoken to friends who work for the council, Barnsley did far better under a Labour government. When the Tories got in and austerity was the new order, they said it felt like Barnsley was being punished with the severity of the cuts.

id say under a Labour govts we Fayre better but not because we are favoured but because we are treated by our needs and equivalent to all councils of whatever colour .the Tories always rob the needy by cutting community projects and lowering taxes which benefit the richest far more than the low incomes .

Best I could come up with to show the disparity. Tap on the file. Don’t know how it popped up twice. Won’t let me delete the repeat.

Neither do I want to get into an argument cos the Tory blockheads will all lay it at the door of Gordon Brown ( it was a global crisis.) But he said we could recover without austerity ( we’ll never know) The Tory heartlands have got off lightly. Cos they’ve suffered less cuts.

Another little gem. Barnley voted Brexit and we had to look to the European Union to fund many projects Including employment projects.

. Yet Barnsley in real terms have suffered around 40% drop if you include inflation. I believe just over 33% on actual monetary figures. Take a look at Wokingham bottom right Tory constituency. 9+%.

Knowsley is among the top mate. 45% cuts. According an article I’ve read.
Depending on which article you read some give the differing amounts compared to 2010. Some also take into account inflation. Which is the real figure in my eyes.

Report I read in the independent had Barnsley and Liverpool as top two- about 444 million lost from Liverpool's budget since 2010
