Cracking career figures them. Can remember his debut as a sixteen year old back in the Channel 4 coverage days and now he's retiring at 40. Massive loyalty to Roma when in his career at some point he got linked to all the best teams in Europe. Supposedly now going to sign a six year contract to be on their board. He's a big selling tool to get professional players or even young kids to sign up with them. Being treated better than Giggs was for being a one club man.

I had a flight booked to go over for it but tickets sold out within seconds, he's going to get a proper send off today.

786 matches and 307 goals at one club is something special. Not seen a send off like it today. So many tears it wouldn't have been out of place at a funeral. Showed that it's not always about the money and sometimes a love for a place means you just want to stay loyal and never leave. If he'd have gone elsewhere no doubt he probably would have won more trophies, but I doubt he'd have been as happy.

Watched the game yesterday and the actual event lived up to the retirement of their best ever player.

Shame he walked off at the end though and didn't live up some of the atmosphere the created by their class fans, unless he came back out. All their players were putting on some t-shirts with the number 10 on the back so I'm assuming the he did come back out.
