With reference to my "Boring Sunday Evening" post, I'd have to be catatonic to watch "Game of Tripe".
*******FINALE SPOILERS BELOW******** Eh, it wasn't as bad as I expected. Thought the last episode was the best of the season. Don't like Bran as king at all, but at least he was chosen, rather than 'wanting it'. Doesn't make sense for Bran to be king, while the north aren't even part of the kingdoms anymore though. That's the only bit I don't like. Surely someone from one of the 6 Kingdoms that are actually being ruled should be King/Queen?
I suppose it was all they could do with the corner they had written themselves into. Thought it was all a major let down and very poorly pulled together.
This season as a whole was bad, but I think this final episode was ok. A lot of **** that doesn't make any sense though.
Feels like a bit of an anticlimax and I think the final season hasn't been up to the rest. Looks like they've teed up some spin-off series though.
Think 7 and 8 weren't great. They decided to bring it to a end in just 2 shorter seasons and it just felt rushed. It didn't feel natural, a plot had been decided and the characters had to bend to fit it. Which grains against the first 5 seasons. Mr Martin has had the reverse issue with the books that just grew out of control in size, I believe the show runners didn't want the same happen to the show, but sadly this also hasn't worked out.
I enjoyed it and I've enjoyed this season, albeit being a bit rushed at times. I'm pleased with how it all ended and whilst it wasn't perfect it was never going to be.
The info was right it just didn't say Sansa was queen in the north, I just presumed. So I was wrong the info wasn't.
To each their own, I thought it was terrible. The story had got too big to finish it how quickly they tried to. So it just feels rushed and characters forced into actions that don't make sense just to fit the plot. GRRM's writing style is panster and given the first 5 seasons were adapted directly from the books this is how it feels on screen. Where characters feel deeper and reactions accurate and true to existing character development. Seasons 7 and 8 were written with a set end point in mind and as such characters actions had to fit into that getting them where they need to be. This is a plotter writing style and it just felt jarring going from one to the other. Perhaps as you say no perfect way could be found. It's sad that such a great show will be in part remembered for the decline towards the end. This will certainly have a negative impact on sales of Blu ray and syndication, streaming service sales for years to come. Could also leave the spin offs suffering too when they come along.
I enjoyed the episode up to and including Daenerys dying, everything after that was awful. Poor series.
Why do people now call the latest SERIES of a show a SEASON? What on earth has season got to do with a TV series?
I tend to do it because that how the Americans do it. Often I'll be discussing things online with them and its just a lot easier to acclimate than keep having to explain what I mean. Also it is a American show.
I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised with the childish response of some viewers because it didn’t end as they wanted it to. What did people expect? It had a proper ending that fits in well with the story arc of most characters. Ok it was a bit truncated in terms of the detail of story but hardly surprising given the books are not out yet. I was a big fan of the books before it was on telly but think they’ve done an excellent job with it. Look forward to the last two books to get the detailed and (I’d guess) slightly different ending.
It's not "childish" to point out plot holes, lazy plotting and lack of character development. Many things were set up with no payoff whilst other things happened without adequate set up. I think the main story beats of the ending could have been very satisfying if the route taken to get there was fitting and made sense. But to me it didn't.
Everyone was expecting a battle for the throne, cercei killed by a pile of rubble lol Defo Arya Stark spin off on its way .
If you look on the iPlayer, it shows "Season 1 of Fleabag" which is an entirely UK website and UK show. But then again the BBC is going to pot anyway.
