I'd say that too though, the American dominance and influence over TV shows has won out out for me.
Which is very hypocritical of me as I loathe most American "English"

Actually, it was co-produced by Amazon so not a good example :D Two great seasons though :)

Its US-English. The entire series is a series (or show), an individual run of episodes from one year is a season. To distinguish between the two.

So the series GoT had 8 seasons.

The last books are going to be split into 2 x 1500 page books apparently. So, the last season being condensed is an understatement.

    Spoilers

Personally, I wish they'd have split the final season into 2 seasons, with the war against the Wights/White Walkers being the main focus of the first season and more about their actual backstory and purpose. Then have the power struggle for Westeros as the final season, with much more character/story development.

We had 7 seasons of build up for all of the characters' stories to resolve and they just seemed to rush everything towards the end, leaving a lot of plot holes and unanswered questions.

Martin helped produce a lot of the earlier season and he was always arguing about leaving stuff out. He wanted them to be 12 episodes so they could be even more detailed. Understandable given his books are ridiculously descriptive. The tv shows have gradually gone down hill since he wasn’t involved
