Conway seems to be the mouthpiece for all the owners hence why he’s getting the most flak but when we say Conway out I’ve always presumed we mean the lot of them.
Very unfair Jay,I've got an opinion you've got yours. If you read my post I want all parties involved to get round the table, whats wrong with wanting that? Its more head in the sand attacking one man than trying to find the truth. I don't want Conway at the meeting because the crusade against him would over shadow finding out from all parties whats going off.
I agree about other board members being accountable, but if there is a meeting then they all need to be there. If Paul Conway was absent I fear it would just rile people up even more. People would say he's gone into hiding, or he's got monk on. I like your idea of a facetime so we can all watch it, but it won't happen unfortunately. Even the fan engagement meetings aren't recorded, and some poor bugger has to type up minutes! I understand we don't want other clubs to know our woes, but we could have a meeting with a special code for Barnsley fans only. Obviously this could be leaked though..
To be fair, the post I quoted wasn't an Ostrich head in the sand post, so apologies, that was unfair. But I do believe you have made a number of posts that qualify for my response. A couple about the £750,000 that has been taken out of the club, where you have claimed there is nothing to concern us, have been exactly the kind of thing that my response here justifies. Having said that, this particular post didn't, so, again, I apologise.
Fair does Jay.As for the £750k the only comment I've made on that was a question to Archfield asking him to explain because I don't understand the financial side of things.I don't recall ever posting that the £750k is of no concern.
Some of it will be because he's the self-publicist among them who's acting as the public face of the consortium, in the vast majority of cases, including the various interviews about the activities of the group in buying up various European clubs. More importantly, from my perspective at least, is that he's also the only one of them, that I'm currently aware of, who is on record having made demonstrably false public statements to the supporter groups. Two examples of this are that the consortium hadn't taken a penny out of the club (made after the year-end in which the £750k transaction appeared in the accounts) and, subsequently, that the £750k debt was a debt of the football club, not the investment company, which directly contradicts the statement in the accounts regarding it (and one of the follow up points that Khaled was supposedly clarifying, on which he's been silent for two months). If the query relates to the current campaign being run by others, then they've also explained the background to this within the Facebook group.
I think this is the crux of it. Conway is the mouth and face of the monster and is most hands on. He's therefore most visible as a target. If you just get rid of a mouth and face there's still a monster there. The thing I don't buy though is abusing the guy for his weight/size or his American heritage. Pathetic, childish and serves no purpose re: the real issues.
Its pretty simple he thinks we are all backward and will believe take in anything he/they say, which many people find very insulting. Literally anything he says can be quite easily ripped apart and proved to be far far from the truth or indeed a all out lie. Let me give you another example. He says they wanted to buy the ground and the land improve the stadium etc. and it was a key integral part of there plan for the club and now that cant happen. Steve Houghton made a statement a whiles ago saying The council has had no contact whatsoever " of any kind " with the consortium no emails, phone call, negotiation's nothing Lets just digest that and break that down. The ground development and land was a key integral part of there plan. But they didn't even get in touch with the council before they signed on the dotted line. Really not even to ask them if they would even be prepared to sell there share, or just have a informal chat about things over the phone or arrange a meeting to chat about there plans, or a meeting with there legal representatives does that seem it could even remotely be the truth for people who claim it was a integral part of there plan. i would say the exact reverse and it was the act of people who had no intention of doing what they claimed was going to happen at the press briefing they said they were looking forward to working with the council to improve Barnsley( the town not club). 4 plus years later they have not even received a email ,phone call, zip all from them
Anyone who refers to.season ticket holders as seasonal members deserves all the dogs abuse in the world.
It I would like an answer about the £750k and could they prove work was done on the west stand on safety grounds and it wasn't because we had big away followings we needed the stewards for, with the stand back open in time for a run of small away followings. Other than that it's all a bit much going after one person when every member of our board should bugger off. It's easy to go after Conway but at least he's put himself forward at fan meetings many times during his ownership and talks to the local media. How many times have we heard from James Cryne and family who have owned us much longer? Since the 80% have come in we've stopped selling off assets on the cheap. Jacob Brown is the only one that springs to mind and that was a while ago now. There hasn't been any selling of Woodrow for 500k like we sold Vaz Te. We haven't sold a star player to a local rival on the cheap like we did Sammy The Snake to Wednesday. Let's see how this month goes and see where we are at on February 1st. What if yet again we haven't sold one of our key players? Will the board get credit for being tough or will excuses come out like nobody came in for any of them?
The reason Conway's the figure of hate is because he's a typical I'm always right, I'll do what I want, big headed small minded yank he's our Donald Trump. He's twice acted as CEO and twice ****** up massively. He's really just a bit of a lovely person.
Not if no one wants them surely? I give credit for not selling Alex in January, but the lure of possible prem millions probably helped avoid that.
They lost Mowatt for nothing in the hope of getting us up. The previous majority owner lost Butterfield for nothing. The 80% have been a lot better at hanging on to key players and not selling assets for far less than we should be.
Who the **** would want anyone want of these ******* idiots. If someone wants to buy Styles they are getting a busted flush.
That depends whether the board have turned down decent bids for players or it's just that no one's bid for our players because of the boards decision to change playing style and employ crap coaches has made the players look like Sunday league rejects.
The deal was to buy the 50 percent of the ground from the crynes wasn't it. And the council keep their 50 percent. Or have I misunderstood that all these years?
